Dear Friends and Collaborators in Solidarity,

We are deeply saddened and alerted by the tragic plot that led to the murder of Sr. Valsa John, who ardently worked against the Panem coal mining company, defending the rights of the local Santhals at Pachwara, Pakur District of Jharkhand.

We strongly condemn such an act of heinous crime and in no circumstance can this be justified. We urgently demand a thorough investigation in to the matter and immediate arrest and legal action against the culprits.

Sannybhai, the present JESA and SAPI Secretary will be in Jamshedpur sometime tomorrow and will try to take in first hand information on any development with regards to Sr. Valsa's murder.

As we await on the decision to be taken in an ongoing meeting of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India  (CBCI), we at SAPI office along with Delhi Forum, invite you to a short meeting at SAPI office tomorrow the 18 of November 2011 at 4pm. Vijayanbhai, General Secretary of PSA, who is constantly in touch with local veteran activists like Tom Kavala and others who were present at Sr. Valsa's funeral will share a short overview of the situation for our deeper understanding and drawing a course of action in Solidarity against atrocities over Activist and Human Rights Defenders.
