Suman anarchy slur on govt

Suman

Calcutta, March 11: Rebel Trinamul MP Kabir Suman today accused his party of encouraging anarchy in all spheres.

A letter written by the singer-turned Jadavpur MP was read out at a convention organised by Left-backed intellectuals who called for unity among the cultural clan.

In the four-page letter, Suman referred to farmer suicides, which the government has been calling a CPM-conspiracy. "In Bengal, debt-ridden farmers are committing suicide. But the government is not willing to accept it," he said.

Suman was also critical of the Mamata Banerjee government's failure to curb campus violence.

"Bahubali der tandab cholchhe shiksha pratishthane…. Je bhabe tara dhukchhe agami dine tarai chalabe (Musclemen are running amok at educational institutions. The way they are forcing in, it seems in the days to come, they will run the institutes)," the letter read.

The MP, handpicked by Mamata from her culture clan, had fallen out with his party chief on the issues of corruption and operation against Maoists.

In the letter, Suman also said the change in Bengal's political guard has not translated into other spheres of life.
