Minimum wage raised in Russia
The minimum wage has been raised in Russia now. From January 1st, 2009 it will be 4330 roubles – thus, it has nearly doubled, as compared with the year 2008. An increase in the minimum wage will lead to a general growth of wages in the country, since this serves as a basis for the formation of wages of the budget sphere employees. For the realization of this measure the federal budget for 2009 provides for additional finances, totaling 30 billion roubles. The government says that it will honour its commitments to the Russian citizens, despite the global crisis.
