THE DELHI IBSEN FESTIVAL 2010
NEW PERSPECTIVES

Friends,

Once again we feature the main Delhi Ibsen Festival for 2010. It is quite a
spectacular event this year, with 3 international productions and 3 Indian
commissioned productions.

It is also a curatorial breakthrough with Ibsen; one which has rarely ever been
attempted anywhere in the world. The focus is IBSEN & RITUAL, FOLKLORE AND
TRADITION.  It sets a new trend in doing  Ibsen internationally.

In the Indian context, this is specially important, because it helps us to
define our own point of contact with Ibsen at a 'roots' level. We have to see
him not as a stranger in our midst, but and bring him into our own environment
and into our minds, in a manner that he becomes familiar and endearing. Only
then can we make the most of the potential that his work has, in contributing
significantly to Indian theatre.

The Seminar, and the Actor's workshop following the productions, also represent
a new step in the shaping Indian theatre, with a new dramaturgical approach by
international and Indian experts rarely heard in India.

I am sending you a brief outline of programme. Since most plays have only one
show, it is likely that the houses will fill up very soon.
This is to request you to make an early booking.

Best wishes.
