Some friends (25 heads) were arrested at Imphal while they were organising a peaceful protest against detention of Ms. Sharmila Chanu for about 10years and demanding her release on last week of October 2011. We lodged complaint after getting first hand news from Mr. Meher Engineer, note scientist and the news were cross checked through Ms. Mukta Srivastava & other sources.

It seems that police (SP Imphal ast District) admitted the case of detention of 24 people including 5 women at Porompat police station without showing arrest, without any charge violating their rights. While police brought & detained 5  women in police custody, they also violated Section 160 of Cr.P.C.

 

We will be grateful if you find some time to provide us your valued opinion by 16th April, so that we can submit our reply by 20th April.
