JFA congratulates Assam Tribune

Guwahati: Journalists' Forum Assam (JFA) has congratulated the Assam
Tribune group of newspapers for its decision to implement the
recommendations of Majithia Wage Board from January 2012. Mentionable
that Majithia board is the latest one and it is applicable since July,
2010 where increment of salary and other benefits for the newspapers
employees (including journalists) are included.
The group, which was founded by a visionary of Assam RG Barua,
publishes the pioneer English daily of northeast India (The Assam
Tribune), an acclaimed Assamese daily (Dainik Asom), an Assamese
weekly (Asom Bani) and a literary monthly magazine (Garioshi).
In a statement issued by JFA president Rupam Barua expresses satisfaction that the Assam Tribune Employees Union has succeeded in its mission for the welfare of its over 400 member-employees.
Significantly the Assam Tribune group of the region has been
identified as the first house in the country to go for implementing
various recommendations for the benefit of its journalists and
non-journalist media employees.
Meanwhile, the JFA has appealed to all other media groups of the
region to implement the recommendations of the wage board, such that
the journalists and other employees get their dues and function with a
secured atmosphere.
