Dear Friends,

APVVU, a long-term partner of AID, is organizing a Jatha to create awareness on the National Rural Employment Guarantee and Right to Information Acts, which will cover 100 villages in two Mandals in 10 days. APVVU Adivasi volunteers use Right to Information (RTI) to unearth the fraud and corruption issues in several government programs in the Mandal and work on proper implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). G.Madugula Santha to Chinthapalli Santha

Dear Friends and ALL,

Since 2008 Andhra Pradesh Vyvasaya Vrithidharulu Union (APVVU) has been actively working in Adivasi Mandal of G.Madugual in Visakha district on proper implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). APVVU Adivasi volunteers using Right to Information (RTI) to unearth the fraud and corruption issues in several government programs in the Mandal.

We expanded our work to Chinthapalli Mandal during last year to 4 Panchayats. In these two Mandals with the efforts of APVVU the Mandal level "Mate and Sramashakthi Sanghas Samaky" were formed. In the month of November 2011, APVVU conducted two training programs on NREGA to Adivasi labor in this Mandals. We recognize that these efforts are not sufficient when we see the gap of awareness levels in adivasis on NREGA and RTI. This we can identify from their lack of awareness on filing of work (F-4) and RTI applications. To bridge this gap with our little human power and resources we are going to organize 10 day Jeep Jatha in these Mandals.

5000 Adivasis – 100 villages – 10 days
