A 15-year-old girl fell to death from the terrace of a five-storeyed apartment on Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road at Tatabad on Friday evening. Even in their moment of agony the girl's parents donated her eyes.

Ronida John, a class 10 student in a private school in Sungam, was reportedly sitting on the parapet wall in the terrace and studying when she accidentally fell. She died on way to hospital. The Kattoor police have registered a case of unnatural death.

The police said her father John Xavier (45) was a consumer product distributor and her mother Sanuja coordinated the distribution business. They were residing in the first floor of the apartment. On Friday, after coming from school Ronida went to the terrace to study. She used to sit on the terrace wall which is about three feet high. The police said she would have fallen when she tried to sit on the wall and lost balance. When Ronida's anguished parents expressed their desire to donate her eyes doctors had some reservation because the body was severely injured. Many relatives, friends, neighbours and school mates went to the hospital to pay homage to the departed soul. The school where she was a student was closed on Saturday.
