JANAZA – SUNDAY AT MCC

 

 

Dr. Muhammad Tariq Shams of Martinsburg, West Virginia passed away on November 17, 2011 at the National Institute of Health (NIH) Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. His body will be flown to Dhaka for burial in their family graveyard near the city of Dhaka. Family source informs that his Namaz e Janaza will be held on Sunday, November 20th after Zohr Prayer (1 pm) at:

Dr. Shams was born on September 2, 1948. A brilliant student all his life, he studied in St. Gregory's High School and Notre Dame College in Dhaka. He did his B.Sc. with Honors in Physics from Dhaka University in 1970 and Ph.D in Physics from George Washington University ( around 1974 ). Dr. Tariq Shams taught at George Washington University for 6 years and was engaged in Research & Development work with a small private company ever since.

He leaves behind his wife Tasneem and only daughter Raeefa, who is a graduate student at the University of Chicago. He is the son of Professor M.Shamsul Huq, former Foreign Minister of Bangladesh and younger brother of M.Khalid Shams a retired Member of the Civil Service and former Deputy Managing Director Grameen Bank.
