Why is Abdul Kalam repeatedly Subjected
to Security Checks by Americans?

Why are the American authorities repeatedly targeting ex-President A P J Abdul Kalam by subjecting him to security checks by the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA)? On September 29, after he had entered the aircraft, TSA agents asked the staff of Air India to bring Dr Abdul Kalam's jacket and shoes, as the two items had not been checked properly. Dr Abdul Kalam is well known as a nuclear and space scientist, but he is definitely NOT a suicide bomber who could be hiding any mini nuclear bombs in his jacket or shoes.

The American officials seem to be extremely obsessed with the personality of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam. Did the extremely cunning American security officials plant any tiny bugs in Dr Abdul Kalam's jacket and shoes to spy on him? The Americans can do anything and everything to spy on others for getting the information they want. Did the American spies try to find out Dr Abdul Kalam's secrets by hearing his private conversations and by recording his visits to different places in USA?

There are many women who have hairstyles like that of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam. Did the Americans want to find out the sex of Dr Abdul Kalam, as they might not be certain of his being a man or a woman? The American perverts might have probably got some strands of his hair from his jacket, which could be used for DNA tests to determine the sex to which Dr A P J Abdul Kalam belongs.

Alternatively, the Americans might be wanting to find out which genes in Dr Kalam's chromosomes had made him a great genius, who is known as one of the most important scientists of India.

US apologizes for Kalam's security check

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

New Delhi: Reacting to reports about President A P J Abdul Kalam being subjected to security check by American authorities again, the US embassy said in a statement that after the incident, its charge d'affaires Peter Burleigh had hand-delivered a letter of apology from the US Transportation Security Administration
(TSA) administrator to Kalam.

The embassy said it deeply regretted the "inconvenience that resulted for Kalam" as a result of the September 29 incident involving security screening at John F Kennedy airport in New York. "We are actively working to prevent similar incidents in the future from occurring," the statement said.

"US authorities have explained to us that under existing US regulation, former President Abdul Kalam does not fall into the category of persons exempt from security screening. However, US authorities extended usual courtesies to him at the airport, including escort and private screening," a statement from the foreign ministry said.

It added that the two governments were planning to hold discussions to explore appropriate mechanisms for facilitating airport procedures for dignitaries, in accordance with national regulations.

After Kalam had entered the aircraft, TSA agents requested Air India staff for his jacket and shoes, reportedly as these had not been checked according to the prescribed procedure. Air India staff then sought the consent of Kalam, who had by then removed his jacket and shoes and settled in his seat, to hand them over to TSA authorities. These personal belongings of Kalam were returned shortly thereafter.

Subject: Indian Airport Security also should Frisk Michelle Obama & Hillary Clinton

Nothing wrong in Frisking of Indian envoy Meera Shankar
Indian Airport Security also should Frisk
Michelle Obama & Hillary Clinton

Most of the people of India need not feel any humiliation over the incidence of frisking or pat-down of the Indian ambassador Meera Shankar by the security staff of the Mississippi's Jackson airport in USA on December 4. In the past, even former President APJ Abdul Kalam and actor Shahrukh Khan had been frisked at airports in USA. What is wrong with anything that is done for the security of all the people travelling by aeroplanes?

Why should even the VIPs be exempted from undergoing the security checks at airports like frisking, which have become absolutely necessary in this age of terrorists who are ready to blow up aeroplanes with the help of hidden bombs?

I believe that even the American first lady Michelle Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other VIPs should not be exempted from any security checks at airports, like frisking or pat-downs, when they travel to India and other countries outside the USA. In fact, the VIPs like Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton should set a good example to all the other air travellers of the world by undergoing frisking and other security checks regularly.

If the Sikhs can be asked to remove their turbans for security checks conducted at airports in USA, then even the men and women who wear wigs should be told to remove their wigs during such security checks.

Washington:

Meera Shankar, a career diplomat, has served as Indian ambassador to the United States since April 2009
.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has expressed concern over an incident where Indian Ambassador to Washington was pulled out of an airport security line and patted down by an American security agent in Mississippi despite being told of her diplomatic status.

The Obama administration has also regretted the humiliating incident that took place on December 4 at the Jackson-Evers International Airport where sari-clad Meera Shankar was about to board a flight to Baltimore after attending the Mississippi State University's programme.

"We obviously are concerned about it. We will be looking into it and trying to determine both what happened and what we could do to prevent such incidents in the future," Clinton told reporters at the Foggy Bottom headquarters of the State Department in joint press availability with her Nigerian counterpart.

According to the Indian Embassy here, the State Department has reached out to Shankar and regretted about the incident.

"The US State Department has reached out to the Ambassador and has regretted what all had happened. The Embassy is in touch with the State Department on this issue," Indian Embassy spokesman Virander Paul said.

Paul confirmed that the Ambassador was subjected to the pat down security check last week at the Jackson-Evers International Airport.

Earlier, State Department spokesman P J Crowley said: "It is our understanding the (Indian) Ambassador was pulled out for secondary screening, and DHS (Department of Homeland Security) has indicated they're prepared to talk about this."

Crowley said there are guidelines that have been published on diplomats.
