Breaking: Judge Upholds NYC's Move to Block Camping at Protest Site 16 Nov 2011 A state Supreme Court judge upheld New York City's 'right' to enforce rules that bar the Occupy Wall Street protesters from camping at Zuccotti Park. Late Tuesday afternoon, Justice Michael D. Stallman of State Supreme Court ruled for the city, saying the protesters could go into Zuccotti Park but could not take their tents and sleeping bags. The police commissioner, Raymond W. Kelly, said that nearly 200 people had been arrested, 142 in the park and 50 to 60 in the streets nearby. [This is why we need a *General Strike.*]

Mission accomplished! Libya seeks UK firms to develop oil sector and construction industry --Nuri Berruien, head of Libya's National Oil Company, said the government would 'favour our friends' to develop its reserves 14 Nov 2011 Libya began touting itself as the next Dubai to UK investors, as the country's government said it would reward its "friends" when it begins selling off lucrative oil contracts. Representatives of the country's National Transitional Council called City executives to a central London hotel to drum up British interest in the "massive opportunities" on offer in Libya. Oil companies, and their lawyers, have kept a close eye on Libya's vast reserves, which accounted for more than 95% of the country's exports before the popular uprising CIA-backed coup d'etat against former leader Muammar Gaddafi.

Majdi Shakoura told the AFP on Monday that he and his daughter suffered cuts from glass and that his wife had sustained a miscarriage when the aircraft targeted a nearby Hamas base. Valero told reporters the three were hit by shrapnel at their residence in Gaza, which was located 200 meters from the site of an Israeli missile attack, he added.

London Olympics Security: FBI Agents, Surface-to-Air Missiles 15 Nov 2011 U.S. and British officials will meet today in Washington to plan security for next summer's Olympic games in London, where the massive U.S. law enforcement presence will include more than 500 federal agents. U.S. and U.K. security and terrorism officials told ABC News that thousands of police officers, soldiers, intelligence officers, firefighters and private guards -- a force that could at times top 40,0000 -- will be on hand at 32 sports venues. U.K. Defense Secretary Philip Hammond told Parliament Monday that security measures might even include surface-to-air missiles. British officials have closely coordinated their efforts with their American counterparts, and the meetings that begin today are only the latest in a series of high-level meetings stretching back more than a year, officials from the CIA, State Department and FBI told ABC.

MTA Plans Unprecedented Overnight Subway Shutdowns --MTA says plan will save more than $1 million 15 Nov 2011 (NY) The MTA revealed Monday that it plans to shut down entire sections of subway lines overnight for several different periods to complete track work and maintenance, rather than do the repairs in pieces on weekends. Transit officials plan to pilot the unprecedented program on the Lexington Avenue line between Grand Central Terminal and Atlantic Avenue starting Jan. 9 by shutting down parts of the 4, 5 and 6 trains between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for several days in a row.
