PLEASE DON'T SHUT SCHOOLS - We need to have a provision in RTE Act, 2009 that no school premises whether of the govt or of the private shall be allowed to used for any purpose other than that of education. In the past, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has first deliberately shut down over hundred primary schools and thereafter, converted them into commercial ventures. It is interesting to note that we still have 14-15 lacs out of school children in Delhi which are required to be in school and despite that, the MCD has a record of shutting down its own schools in the areas that have become highly commercialized over the past few years. Instead of shutting down schools, MCD should surrender such schools premises to the Directorate of Education, Govt of Delhi to accommodate students from their over-crowded schools.
