BC athlete contracted dengue at Delhi Games

Canadian gripes against the Delhi Commonwealth Games don't seem to be over yet even though the sports extravaganza ended more than a fortnight ago. Swimming Canada said that its swimmer Annamay Pierse contracted dengue virus during the Games and is now down with fever and related symptoms. Swimming Canada officials said Vancouver-based Pierse returned from India with a fever and other symptoms.

No protesting Obama say Indian Muslims

Barack Obama is "better" than George Bush, say Indian Muslims though they don't consider the US as Muslim-friendly yet, adding when the American president arrives he can expect a warm welcome from the community members. There would be no demonstrations by the community to protest the high-level visit from Nov 6, say Muslim leaders who had organized rallies against George Bush's visit in 2006 to protest his Iraq and Afghanistan war policy.

A US-based Coalition Against Trafficking in Women has warned that an Ontario Supreme Court ruling that voided Canada's anti-prostitution laws and a similar challenge in British Columbia will support sex traffickers. In a statement issued 30 days before the ruling becomes final, the CATW said the ruling will "put even more women and girls at risk."

Aishwarya dances like a dream

Indian choreographer Longinus Fernandes made actors in "Slumdog Millionaire" dance to his tunes and also directed a sequence in Hollywood film "Eat, Pray Love", but it is Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai who bowled him over with her "dream" like dance moves. He has choreographed the song "Udi udi" in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's forthcoming film "Guzaarish".
