Indian occupied Kashmir is burning. Everyday there is blood shed in the Kashmir valley. Indian police and troops have been slaughtering unarmed people including infants and olds since June, 2010. Widespread violence took place centering the killing of a child by Indian riot police. From then Kashmir has been swelling. Everyday people are staging demonstration in protest against the brutal torture and repression on them. Police and troops are indiscriminately lobbing tear-canisters and spraying rubber bullets to freedom- loving people. Till now above hundred Kashmiris have been killed and thousands injured. Many people were crippled as well.
Once Kashmir was called 'the land of Heaven'. Matchless beauty played throughout this valley. Many visitors visited this valley to enjoy this charming beauty. But now the picture is quite different. Kashmir has already turned into a land of fire. There is ceaseless blood shed due to Indian security forces' brutalities.
In 1948 when movement for self-determination erupted, Kashmiri people wanted to merge their land with Pakistan. In course of time they have changed their mind. They are presently raising their demand for independence. They think Indian forces as aggressors or occupation forces. They believe that one day they will be able to snatch their independence.
Kashmir was reported to be part of Pakistan during partition of this sub-continent in 1947. British and Hindus hatched a deep- rooted conspiracy against Kashmir. The British left Kashmir unresolved. India later occupied a large portion of Kashmir and Pakistan, the rest part. Afterwards the UN Security Council unanimously passed a resolution urging India to hold a plebiscite or referendum in Kashmir. The then Indian government agreed to hold a referendum. But till now Indian government has not taken initiative to hold the referendum there. This is how India violated the resolution passed by UN Security Council.
It is a matter of great regret that international community couldn't raise a strong voice against India. India has turned a deaf ear to the UN like Israel which is indiscriminately slaughtering Palestinians ignoring a number of UN resolutions. Like Israel India does not care anybody in respect of Kashmir issue. Indian security forces have been pursuing the scorched earth policy in the land. Security forces are setting fire to villages, markets, shopping malls, shops, schools, colleges, madrasas and so on. They are abducting unarmed people and later slaying them. Not only that they are carrying out gang rape. Many innocent women are carrying illegal babies due to Indian occupation forces' gang rape. Besides, security forces are plundering and hijacking valuables of people entering their houses all on a sudden. They are involved with crimes against humanity.
Kashmiri people have again become vocal against India. They have been staging demonstrations protesting atrocities defying curfew. Indian Congress government has already sent an all- party delegation to Kashmir. Recently the delegation visited Kashmir. It comprehended the sentiment of Kashmiri people.
The all- party delegation talked to leaders of the movements. It is learnt that Kashmiri leaders have already told the delegation that Indian government must first stop inhuman torture and repression on Kashmiris and then pull out all kinds of troops from Kashmir. If India does so they may sit with it. Observers say that Indian government's effort to quell violence in Kashmir as well as the movement has, in the meantime, gone in vain. The all- party delegation could not do anything and could not be able to calm down Kashmiris.
International community should now pay attention to Kashmir. It is the need of hours. The peace- loving people of the world demand of the Indian government to concede their independence stopping torture and repression on Kashmiris forthwith. Kashmiri people are victims of more than six decades' oppression and suppression. Nobody came forward to rescue them. The big powers did not take any effective measure to resolve the Kashmir problem. They have always showed indifference in respect of Kashmir. This problem is still hanging and none has headache to resolve it immediately.
Sometimes Kashmiris voice against Indian atrocities and their movement extinguishes due to non-cooperation of the world community. The peace- loving people of the world expected that the all- party delegation would comprehend the pulse of the Kashmiri people. They also expected that the delegation would concede the Kashmiri people's longstanding demand and present the real picture of Kashmir before Indian government. Consequently a permanent solution related to Kashmir could be made within shortest possible time. But the delegation failed to do so.
We want durable peace in Kashmir. We hope that Indian government would accept longstanding demand of Kashmiris immediately. Freedom- loving Kashmiris should get rid of repression, torture, oppression and suppression. We also hope that international community will come forward to mitigate the sufferings of Kashmiris.
