Subject: Get governors involved in stopping anti-Muslim hate

Dear Andrea,

The media frenzy surrounding the 9/11 anniversary has passed, but, unfortunately, anti-Muslim sentiment is still going strong, resulting in further violence.

Last month our community delivered 13,000+ letters of support to the American Muslim community, but we need all our leaders to speak up to stop the hate.

Please join our friends at Human Rights First in asking governors in every state to speak out against the hatred and violence towards our Muslim brothers and sisters.

Thanks for your help,

Beth

Anti-Muslim incidents are taking place throughout our country, including violence.

Stand up against intolerance and violence, and ask our leaders to do the same:

Tell the National Governors Association to speak out against anti-Muslim hate.

Dear Friend:

If you thought the anti-Muslim bigotry ended with the cancellation of the Gainesville Florida Koran burning–think again.

An Ohio burglary targeting a Muslim store owner, gunfire and suspected arson at an Islamic center in Tennessee…bigotry is taking the form violence directed at the American Muslim community in many places around the country.

The President and other leaders have condemned the violence and the intolerance that may be feeding them. But we can't rest until all of our leaders take a stand against anti-Muslim incidents, everywhere they occur. That's why we're asking leaders in every state to speak out.

Tell our governors to speak out against anti-Muslim bigotry today.

Help us tell our leaders that their constituents don't support hate – and neither should they.

If we work together, we can get the attention of all U.S. governors by asking the National Governors Association – which calls itself "the Collective Voice of the Nation's Governors" – to speak out.

Our leaders spoke up against the Koran burning—and we saw that it was effective. That's why we're asking our governors to speak out against anti-Muslim incidents in places like Ohio, Tennessee, California, Wisconsin, and elsewhere. These actions are contrary to our values of tolerance, diversity, and religious freedom and, as General Petraeus underlined, also hurt our security.

But the Muslim community continues to be targeted across the country – which is why citizens and leaders alike need to act.

Sign the petition asking the National Governors Association to make a statement against anti-Muslim violence.

Together with our leaders, we can show the American Muslim community that we support tolerance and human rights, not bigotry.

Sincerely,

Tad Stahnke
