Repeatedly governments are being caught red handed secretly

spraying the public. After being challenged with irrefutable evidence the

German government now openly admits to secretly spraying the public. Their

military however told the public to not worry because the chemicals and

metals they were secretly spraying the public with "would not harm them"...

ok...

US TV Station and Laboratories confirm the government is mass

gassing the public with Barium and other chemicals (opposite). Barium, which

acts as a neural interceptor, is clearly working, the U.S. public isn't

doing anything while their government sprays them like bugs and rats.

In some of the most politically active areas in the U.S. and the seat

of Liberty For Life, the government has resorted to low level direct

intensive spraying of the public. Refusing to disclose 57% of the

ingredients they were spraying the public with, the authorities claimed that

the spraying was necessary to combat 'apple moth' infestations. The company

carrying out the spraying also specializes in areal dispersing of insects

such as the apple moth.

Ignoring court cases filed against them, the government simply went

ahead and sprayed the public in communities such as Santa Cruz and Monterey.

Strangely, on the night of the spraying in Santa Cruz, which is a typical

example of our Police State in which you will come across ten or so cops

every two miles you drive across town, emptied out of cops the night they

sprayed the public. The government told the public that they were merely

spraying 'moth sex scents' which would not harm humans. However, what were

the cops scared of? In Monterey County, doctors monitoring the situation

indicated as much as 75 percent of the public were sick after the low level

areal 'apple moth' spraying. Most people living in the area also reported

that they found their memory was being directly affected that they had

become unusually forgetful (Probably caused by a heavy metal such as

The only question now is whether one flees from these areas or one

shoots down the projects poisoning the public. In all sanity, where on the

earth does the government have any right to spray the public with

undisclosed chemicals, secretly or out in the open? Surely this is war.

Chemtrails are exceptionally serious in-your-face attempt to

exterminate mass population groups, including YOU. You can see them in the

sky, clearly they are not vapor trails. More than enough evidence demands

your action - get active. Just as Chemtrails are 'in disguise' so too are

effects of a biological attack against a naval port facility. The data

obtained from the test were related to mathematically generated estimates of

casualties expected from exposure to Venezuelan equine encephalitis. Six

trials (Group A trials) were designed to ascertain the downwind travel of a

biological aerosol produced by the submarine-biologica l-disseminator system.

The submarine released the biological simulant Bacillus globigii. The Group

A trials were conducted at sea approximately 80 nautical miles

south-southwest of Oahu, Hawaii. Five light tugs stationed at pre-determined

locations along the downwind path of the aerosol conducted over-ocean

island complex. Sampling stations were established at 15 locations on the

consisted of two trials (Group C) during which the submarine disseminated

Bacillus globigii simulant along a line offshore from Kaneohe Marine Corps

    In some areas, vaccination is compulsory
and this is what brings autism, therefore in ALL those areas, the
criminally imbecilic government should be seized and decapitated, the heads
to be used for football while the rest of the bodies can be used as manure to
fertilize the depleted fields of America.  To be convinced of this,
just read carefully the following and THINK, then scream:  HORROR ! !
!
         
            

1. NATURE OF AUTISM
              

    What exactly is autism
?  Autism is a typical psychic condition in which the autistic person loses
all contact with the outside world and remains within its own self. 
Typically,  autistic troubles begin in the small child, being
invariably caused by parental errors in caring and especially feeding the
child.  However, this is being denied by ignorant (but well paid) medical
"specialists" .  Meanwhile, the number of autistic cases is growing
steadily and, since autism leads to difficulty or impossibility for
the victim to communicate with people, it all helps in strengthening the
position of the wealthy (and deadly) few as well as lead to their
needed DEPOPULATION.
  
      

    As a matter of fact, until
now, this condition could not be cured and eventually, the autistic person could
not communicate with anybody and was then quietly, very discreetly
assassinated.  This is called in America a "natural" death,  the
product of FREEDOM.
 
    Specifically, autism is one
of the products of governmental planning, more exactly the "freedom" to produce
and sell secretly toxic food. It is evident that governments deny everything and
furthermore, they order the medical "specialists" to keep their mouth shut about
it all... or else no more paycheque... or if needed... sudden disease and
death.  But some older, retired doctors are refusing to shut up about all
that.  Unfortunately, they often die prematurely, in unexplained
circumstances.
 
    Like many - and more and more
- diseases,  autism is a condition which did not exist at all in the
distant past and which is presently becoming more and more common in countries -
such as the U.S.A., but others too - which are determined in pursuing the
general depopulation of the world which is now a great necessity  in
order to saveguard the interests of the International
Plutocracy.   Let's say it directly,  autism +  war + terrorism
are the three  means by which the International Plutocracy figures to be
able to get rid of all of us, fools.
                 

                   

2. HISTORY OF
AUTISM
         
    When I was young, before W.W.2, autistic
cases were an extreme rarity, while now autistic cases
are getting more and more common, and this everywhere.  Well now, not
exactly everywhere but in all places which are following the advices and
orders issued by plutocracy-controll ed governments. .. and this means almost ALL
governments.  And this is natural because "modern" governments are composed
of inhuman animals intent on just TWO things: (1) get money out of the fools and
in addition (2), reduce or STOP the production of children.  But if
children are produced anyway, then see to it that they grow into
nothing.  Hence the requirement to vaccinate children, so that they
either die or else develop severe brain disorders, including
especially:  AUTISM.
 
    And what do parents do ?  You might
expect them to save their children but no, not at all,  most parents do
vaccinate their children and - if these don't die - they viciously observe
them growing up into hopeless morons.  And they don't really
care,  because after all they are evil "patriots" aren't they ! 
 
    Yes, let me recapitulate:  Children
are forced to be vaccinated in order for them to perish
from:

1. New diseases.
2. Autism.
3. Other infectious
diseases.
    In other words, autism is one - just one
- of the many ways used by the International Plutocracy to get rid of all
of us fools who refuse to THINK and
fight back... and extterminate the wealthy (too wealthy) enemy.
          

           
               
           
3. FUTURE OF
AUTISM
            

    There are here two possibilities. 
First, the most likely, is that we ordinary people refuse to think and fight
back and then, not only on account of autism but everything else... such as
being gunned down as "terrorists" ,  we generously give the enemy
the FREEDOM TO KILL US ALL. 

 
    But true, there is also another -
rather unlikely - possibility:  that we suddenly wake up and replace the
present governments who are in possession of the "research
labs".  . .  and suddenly we discover very easy ways to STOP autistic
attacks and save the children !   But true enough, do
"modern" brainless, heartless, greedy mothers  care about their own
children ??? (big question).
 
    At this point, we have to ask:  WHO IS THE ENEMY ?   And if you
think a bit deeply about it, you have to agree that the enemy is NOT any person
in particular.  The enemy is WEALTH, or more precisely GREED and SELFISHNESS.  And since these two
are the foundations on which the evil human species is built,  it is hard
to imagine a way to save us from ourselves.
 
    Therefore, we have to conclude
that:

1.  Autism is here to
stay.
2.  Depopulation will be a
success.
3.  We will all die except for the
plutocracy.
4.  But, surprise, they will all
disappear too.
5.  Fully guilty in all this is
ALL OF US.
6.  Because we did
NOTHING, didn't even
think.
    Judging by the effect that my thousands of
articles - since 1946 - have had... which is NONE,  one can safely conclude that the
International Plutocracy will win and we will all die.  Well O.K., 
now just recite your last prayer and prepare your coffin.
            

               

4. PREVENTION OF
AUTISM
             

    Curing autism is not easy but - though I
don't know for sure - it is not impossible.  However, preventing autism is remarkably
easy.  It is simply a matter of raising the child
properly:

1.  The mother should be VERY
careful of what she eats and drinks during the 9 months preceding the birth of
the child.
2. Be very watchful of the food and
water given to the child during the first 2 years of life,
meaning:  avoid or eliminate poisonous stuff which in
some countries (e.g. the US) is secretly incorporated in all the
food.
3. Avoid the U.S. system of paying
someone else to care for your child:  children need
their mother and NO ONE
ELSE.
4. Babies can be born in hospital but
the best place to give birth is at
home.  I was born at home (my brother too) and I am
now 81 years old. 
5. Hospitals are murderous areas. 
Only imbecilic fools don't know that but, thanks to medical "treatments" , they
all die young NEVER reaching the normal age of 120 years.
6.  Beware of vaccinations which
often make the baby sick, sometimes autistic and sometimes kill  the
child.
7. Vaccinations are intended to kill
the fools... which is why vaccinations are forced on these fools. 
But these are "patriots" who don't mind to die for the greater wealth and
power of the International  Plutocracy  !  
    From the above 7 circumstances, I can
predict that the number of autistic children will keep growing in the U.S. and
in all similar countries.
        
             

5. POLITICAL
IMPORTANCE
        
    In all fascist countries, such as the
United States,  the number of autistic children is going to keep growing,
which is normal.  However if you look in the statistical studies, you can
see that in about 50 years' time, the number of native White americans will have
diminished to ZERO and the entire
U.S. population will consist of spanish-speaking foreigners.  That is what
specialists say but it is not at all my opinion which is that the entire
population of the United States will ALL be dead, somehow killed by the
plutocracy.  This being so, because the U.S.A. is presently a
plutocracy-controll ed dictatorship which has for self-imposed mission the
depopulation of the entire earth.
 
    So, although the number of English
speaking people is diminishing in that country, nevertheless, the entire
population will be destroyed and will have to be,  in order to achieve the
total depopulation needed by the wealthy few.
 
    Can all this be avoided ?  It could
with a revolution and indeed a world revolution is highly needed to save the
world from itself.  Such a revolution would involve placing under arrest all the members of all plutocracy-controll ed
governments.  Not an easy thing to do, especially because
the plutocracy is raising the level of poisoning everywhere.  Indeed,
for them poisoning of the air, the water and the food is an absolute
necessity... precisely to avoid a world revolution.  In other words, they
will probably succeed, there will be no world revolution and we will all
die.
 
    But please don't forget before your
time comes to die and to remain lying on the ground in your street, along
 with thousands of other corpses, to have a good look in a mirror at
the guilty person:  Guilty of
fatal indifference. 
          

               

6.
CONCLUSION
          

    It is always hard to predict the future
and it may be thought that all this will lead to a war against autism but
actually it all boils down to either a world revolution or death for all the
ordinary "citizens" of the U.S., U.K. and other countries.
 
    Fully guilty are the ordinary people who,
most stupidly, vaccinate their children and thus make them sick and even very
sick and dying, and this is just one example among many which suggest, all of
them, that those murderous victims are actually accomplices of the
terrorist government of the Evil Empire  (What a shame!).  Most of
present day vaccines are actually poisonous stuff intended to help
DEPOPULATION.  Just THINK and TAKE
ACTION.

said Somalis made up 25 percent of children in preschool classes for those
with severe autism.
    He does scream and spit, and he
moans a loud "Unnnnh! Unnnnh!" when he is unhappy. At night he pounds the
walls for hours, which led to his family's eviction from their last
apartment.
    As he is strapped into his seat in the bus
that takes him to special education class, it is hard not to notice that
there is only one other child inside, and he too is a son of Somali
immigrants.
    "I know 10 guys whose kids have autism,"
said Ayub's father, Abdirisak Jama, a 39-year-old security guard. "They are
all looking for help."
    Autism is terrifying the
community of Somali immigrants in Minneapolis, and some pediatricians and
educators have joined parents in raising the alarm. But public health
experts say it is hard to tell whether the apparent surge of cases is an
actual outbreak, with a cause that can be addressed, or just a statistical
fluke.
    In an effort to find out, the Minnesota
Department of Health is conducting an epidemiological survey in consultation
with the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This kind of
conundrum, experts say, arises whenever there is a cluster of noncontagious
illnesses.
    While there is little research on autism
clusters, reports of cancer clusters are so common that health agencies
across the country respond to more than 1,000 inquiries about suspected ones
each year. A vast majority prove unfounded, and even when one is confirmed,
the cause is seldom ascertained, as it was for Kaposi's sarcoma among gay
men and mesothelioma among asbestos workers.
    It is
"extraordinarily difficult" to separate chance clusters from those in which
everyone was exposed to the same carcinogen, said Dr. Michael J. Thun, the
American Cancer Society's vice president for
epidemiology.
    Since the cause of autism is unknown,
the authorities in Minnesota say it is hard to know even what to
investigate.
    "There are obviously some real concerns
here, but we don't want to make a cursory judgment," said Buddy Ferguson, a
health department spokesman. Even counting autism cases is difficult because
the diagnoses are first made by the schools, not doctors, and population
estimates for Somalis vary widely. Results are expected late this
month.
    Even if the department confirms that a cluster
exists, it will not answer the question why. Still, Dr. Thun said a possible
focus in one ethnic group "increases my sense that investigating it is
essential." The next step, he added, would be to look at Somalis in other
cities.
    A small recent study of refugees in schools in
Stockholm found that Somalis were in classes for autistic children at three
times the normal rate.
    Calls to representatives of
Somali groups in Seattle and San Diego found that they were aware of the
fear in Minneapolis but unsure about their own rates. Doctors familiar with
the Somali communities in Boston and Lewiston, Me., had heard of no surges
there.
    "It's a concern here, but we haven't done
anything to look specifically, " said Ahmed Salim of Somali Family Services
in San Diego.
    Shamso Yusuf of the Refugee Women's
Alliance in Seattle said tearfully that her own daughter had been given a
diagnosis of autism, "and I see a lot of parents who have 5-year-olds who
cannot speak." But no Seattle study has been done, she
said.
    Somalis began arriving in Minneapolis in 1993,
driven out by civil war; now their population in Minnesota is estimated at
30,000 to 60,000. The city is welcoming and social benefits are generous,
but many live a life apart as conservative Muslims, the women in head
scarves and long dresses. Many Somali men have jobs as taxi drivers or
security guards; others are accountants or run shops in the mini-malls
catering to Somalis.
    Antivaccine activists are
campaigning among them, which worries public health officials, especially
because some families go back and forth to Somalia, where measles is still a
significant cause of childhood death, according to
Unicef.
    One of the first to raise the alarm was Anne
Harrington, who worked in special education in the Minneapolis schools for
21 years.
    In the last decade, she said, "we've begun
seeing a tremendous number of kids born here who have the more severe forms
of autism."
    Last year, she said, 25 percent of the
children in preschool classes offering the most intensive treatment had
Somali parents, while only about 6 percent of public school enrollment is
Somali.
    Dr. Daniel S. McLellan, a pediatrician, said
that when he began practicing at Children's Hospital six years ago, he was
struck by how many autistic Somali children he saw.
   
"They had classic symptoms," he said. "Really impaired language, didn't
watch faces, didn't make eye contact, didn't communicate with gestures, just
lost in their own worlds. Nobody would mistake it for anything
else."

Speculation is rampant about possible causes: living conditions in Somalia
or in refugee camps in Kenya; traditional medicines;  intermarriage;
genetic predisposition; vitamin D deficiencies due to a lack of sunlight;
and, of course, vaccines. 
But each theory has weaknesses.
    Most of the children,
said Idil Abdull, one of the first mothers of an autistic child to ask the
authorities to investigate, were born here and have had the same medical
care and shots as any child on Medicaid. It is not a case of misdiagnosis
because of language problems; many have siblings doing well in
school.
    The Hmong, from Southeast Asia, who also
immigrated here through refugee camps, do not have high autism rates, Ms.
Harrington said. Somali refugees have many illnesses, said Dr. Osman M.
Ahmed of the East Africa Health Project in St. Paul, including tuberculosis,
hepatitis B, depression from the civil war, and vitamin
D
deficiencies.
    But lack of vitamin D is a dubious
explanation. Rates of the disorder are similar among black and white
Americans, according to the C.D.C., and Somalis, on average, are no
darker-skinned than black Americans.
    In Somalia,
cousins do marry cousins. Globally, according to the March of Dimes, birth
defect rates are highest in Arab countries with close intermarriage. But
Somalia's birth defect rate is moderate, and autism is not part of such
studies.
    In any case, many Somali parents are baffled
and scared. "It's beyond denial," said Hassan Samantar, a parent advocate at
the Pacer Center for disabled children.
    "There was no
word for this in Somali. We've seen Down syndrome and schizophrenia, but
loosely termed â€" our word is more like `crazy.'  People are calling it
`otismo' or `the American disease.' And some are saying it's something you
did or your parents did, and the curse is catching up with
you."
    Many Somali parents here do not read English or
watch American television, he said, so they first hear of autism only when a
pediatrician suggests testing a child.
    Some send their
children back to relatives in Somalia.  "They say, `There's more
sunshine, there's less pollution, the food is fresher because the animal was
killed that morning,' " Ms. Abdull said. "They say: `My kid won't talk?
Throw him in the middle of 20 other kids, and he'll talk. They'll tease him
till he has to.' You know the way kids run around in Africa? People are so
isolated in their apartments here. They think maybe they'll snap out of
it."
    Antivaccine groups have noticed. In November, J.
B. Handley, a founder of Generation Rescue, which advocates treating
autistic children with wheat- and dairy-free diets, vitamins and chelation
to remove mercury, wrote an open letter to "Courageous Somali Parents."

    He warned them not to trust the state health
department and suggested they slow down their children's shots and get
exemptions to school vaccination requirements. He also offered to pay for
some to attend an antivaccine conference.
    The appeal
has had an effect. Many parents, including Ayub's, now say that their
children's autism began after seizures that started after they got
shots.
    "People in the Somali community have gravitated
to that theory, and many are resisting immunization, " Dr. McLellan
said.
    But there are also children like 8-year-old
Shumsudin Warsame, who does not speak more than one word at a time, runs in
circles and hurts himself jabbing pens into his face. He was born in
Somalia, grew up in Egypt and arrived here six months ago. He started having
seizures before he was a year old, his father, Abdiasis, said, long before
he had any vaccinations.
    To Mr. Warsame, finding
something to blame is beside the point. He is a single parent, and he and
Shumsudin were at a health center hoping to find a part-time home care
aide.
    "I have a friend from Somalia with three kids
with autism, all born in Minnesota," Mr. Warsame said. "I need help; we all
need help. I don't see a lot of people trying to help us. It's better than
it was in Egypt or Somalia, but it's not what I
expected."

ANOTHER AUTISM CASE WINS IN
VACCINE COURT

    On February 12, the federal "Vaccine Court" in
Washington issued a sweeping ruling in three highly touted "test cases"
against families who claimed that their childrens' autism had been caused by
vaccines. The Special Masters in those three cases found that Petitioners
failed to establish causation between MMR vaccines, the mercury-laced
vaccine preservative thimerosal, and autism (the court decision, which is
under appeal, deferred any finding on a thimerosal-only theory of
causation). The rulings could have a significant precedential impact on some
5,000 families who opted to bring their cases in the Omnibus Autism
Proceedings (OAP) hoping that the vaccine court would officially hold that
the MMR vaccine or thimerosal had caused autism in their
children.
    The New York Times joined the government
Health Agency (HRSA) and its big
pharma allies hailing the decisions as proof that the
scientific doubts about vaccine safety had finally been "demolished. " The US
Department of Health and Human services said the rulings should "help
reassure parents that vaccines do not cause autism." The Times, which has
made itself a blind mouthpiece for HRSA and a leading defender of vaccine
safety, joined crowing government and vaccine industry flacks applauding the
decisions like giddy cheerleaders, rooting for the same court that many of
these same voices viscously derided just one year ago, after Hannah Poling
won compensation for her vaccine induced
autism.
    But last week, the parents of
yet another child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) were awarded a lump
sum of more than $810,000 (plus an estimated $30-40,000 per year for autism
services and care) in compensation by the Court, which ruled that
the measels-mumps- rubella (MMR) vaccine had
caused acute brain damage that led to his autism spectrum
disorder.
    The family of 10-year-old
Bailey Banks won their case quietly and without fanfare in June of 2007, but
the ruling has only now come to public attention. In the remarkably clear
and eloquent decision, Special Master Richard Abell ruled that the Banks had
successfully demonstrated that "the MMR vaccine at issue actually caused the
conditions from which Bailey suffered and continues to
suffer."
    Bailey's diagnosis is Pervasive Developmental
Disorder -- Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS) which has been recognized as
an autism spectrum disorder by CDC, HRSA and the other federal health
agencies since at least the 1990s.
    In his conclusion, Special Master Abell
ruled that Petitioners had proven that the MMR had directly caused a brain
inflammation illness called acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM)
which, in turn, had caused the autism spectrum disorder PDD-NOS in the
child:
    The Court found that Bailey's
ADEM was both caused-in-fact and proximately caused by his vaccination. It
is well-understood that the vaccination at issue can cause ADEM, and the
Court found, based upon a full reading and hearing of the pertinent facts in
this case, that it did actually cause the ADEM. Furthermore, Bailey's ADEM
was severe enough to cause lasting, residual damage, and retarded his
developmental progress, which fits under the generalized heading of
Pervasive Developmental Delay, or PDD [an autism spectrum disorder]. The
Court found that Bailey would not have suffered this delay but for the
administration of the MMR vaccine, and that this chain of causation was... a
proximate sequence of cause and effect leading inexorably from vaccination
to Pervasive Developmental Delay.
    The Bailey decision
is not an isolated ruling. We now know of at least two other successful ADEM
cases argued in Vaccine Court. More significantly, an explosive
investigation by CBS News has found that since 1988, the vaccine court has
awarded money judgments, often in the millions of dollars, to thirteen hundred and twenty two families whose
children suffered brain damage from
vaccines. In many of these cases, the government paid out
awards following a judicial finding that vaccine injury lead to the child's
autism spectrum disorder. In each of these cases, the plaintiffs' attorneys
made the same tactical decision made by Bailey Bank's lawyer, electing to
opt out of the highly charged Omnibus Autism Proceedings and argue their
autism cases in the regular vaccine court. In many other successful cases,
attorneys elected to steer clear of the hot button autism issue altogether
and seek recovery instead for the underlying brain damage that caused their
client's autism.
    Medical
records associated with these proceedings clearly tell the tale. In perhaps
hundreds of these cases, the children have all the classic symptoms of
regressive autism; following vaccination a perfectly healthy child
experiences high fever, seizures, and other illnesses, then gradually, over
about three months, loses language, the ability to make eye contact, becomes
"over-focused" and engages in stereotypical head banging and screaming and
then suffers developmental delays characteristic of autism. Many of these
children had received the autism
diagnosis.        

    Yet the
radioactive word "autism" appears nowhere in the decision.  Instead the
vaccine court Special Masters rest their judgments on their finding that the
vaccines caused some generalized brain injury, mainly
Encephalopathy/ encephalitis (brain inflammation) or "seizure disorders" --
conditions known to cause autism-like symptoms. A large number of the
children who have won these judgments have been separately diagnosed with
autism. HRSA acknowledged this fact in a recent letter, but told us it does
not keep data on how many of these children were autistic.

    The Vaccine Court, in other words, seems quite
willing to award millions of dollars in taxpayer funded compensation to
vaccine-injured autistic children, so long as they don't have to call the
injury by the loaded term "autism." That hazard is particularly acute for
vaccine victims who appear before the Omnibus Autism Proceedings (OAP).
Since that body's decisions are closely watched, published and accorded the
weight of precedent, many lawyers consider the burden of proof for
petitioners to be impossibly high before the OAP Panel. It was for this
reason that Bailey's attorney, Mark McLaren, elected to opt out of the OAP
and try his case separately, even though Bailey has been receiving
autism-related services in his home state and was eligible to file a case in
the Court's Omnibus Autism Proceedings (OAP).
    McLaren
told us he wanted to avoid the added burden facing petitioners under the
media glare and precedential weight attending OAP panel trials. "We
considered [the OAP route] because [Bailey] is on the autistic spectrum of
disorders, but we thought we could try it separately and apart from the
Omnibus, and not as a test case," explained McLaren. "We thought we'd have a
better chance if we tried to on its own merit, away from the spotlights and
the precedent setting pressures that attend these OAP test cases - and it
worked."
    Bob Krakow, a leading attorney for vaccine
damaged children told that many lawyers are now convinced that filing a
claim in the OAP is a losing proposition. "There's a growing conviction that
if you have an autistic client who has also been diagnosed with
encephalopathy/ encephalitis or seizure disorder, you are better off not
mentioning the word "autism" if you want to win the case." He recommended
instead filing a non autism claim like "mental retardation with seizure
disorder" for an autistic client.
    Although the
vaccine court is mandated to fairly serve the victims of vaccine injuries,
their primary purpose and raison d'etre is to protect the vaccine program
and vaccine makers. Damages are doled out from a 75-cent tax on every
vaccine sold and not from the vaccine makers. "You can understand why
special masters, burdened with their duty to protect vaccine programs, might
be unwilling to make the direct causal link between autism and vaccines,"
Krakow observed. "If you ask the big question and answer it in the
affirmative, there is a sense that it will damage the vaccine program
irreparably. "
    Vaccine Court judges are equipped with
a draconian armory of weapons deployable against plaintiffs intent on
proving the causal connection between vaccines and autism. Jury trials are
prohibited. Damages are capped; awards for pain and suffering are strictly
limited and punitive damages banned altogether. Vaccine defenders have an
army of Department of Justice attorneys with virtually unlimited resources
for expert witnesses and other litigation costs. Plaintiffs, in contrast,
must fund the up front costs for experts on their own. In a cultural choice
that clearly favors defendants, vaccine court gives overwhelming weight to
written medical records which are often inaccurate -- over all other forms
of testimony and evidence. Observations by parents and other caretakers are
given little weight.
    Worst of all -- plaintiffs have
no right to discovery either against the pharmaceutical industry or the
government. Since autism is a behavioral affliction rather than a precisely
defined biological injury -- epidemiological studies are critical to
establishing its causation. But the greatest source of epidemiological data
is the Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD) -- the government maintained medical
records of hundreds of thousands of vaccinated children -- which HHS has
gone to great lengths to keep out of the hands of plaintiffs' attorneys and
independent scientists. Unfortunately the vaccine court has judicially
anointed this corrupt concealment by consistently denying every motion by
petitioners to view the VSD. The raw data collected in the VSD would
undoubtedly provide the epidemiological evidence needed to understand the
relationship between vaccines and autism. The absence of such studies makes
it easy for judges to say to plaintiffs they have not met their burden of
proving causation.
    Meanwhile, CDC has actively,
openly and systematically suppressed and defunded epidemiological studies
that might establish a causal link. CDC has ignored repeated pleadings that
it fund peer reviewed studies of unvaccinated American cohorts like the
Amish and home-schooled children. At the same time the agency has worked
overtime ginning up a series of fatally-flawed European studies purporting
to dispute the link. Even a cursory critical examination reveals that the
oft-cited Danish, English, and Italian studies are rank tobacco science.
Many of them were funded by CDC, a badly compromised agency, performed by
vaccine industry scientists, and published in miserably conflicted journals.

    Needless to say, the existence of these phony
studies, combined with the deliberate dearth of epidemiological evidence
makes it easy for the special masters to dodge a politically explosive
finding by holding that there is "insufficient evidence."
And, speaking
of tobacco, it's worth recalling that for sixty years the tobacco industry
successfully defended a product that was killing one out of every five of
its customers against thousands of legal actions brought by its victims and
their families. Tobacco lawyers protected the cigarette companies by arguing
that there was no proven link between tobacco and lung cancer. Bob Krakow
sees many parallels. Big tobacco uses the same tactic of manufacturing
research that seems to dispute the connection to exploit the burdens on
plaintiffs to prove causation. Big tobacco prevailed for six decades even
without the help of supportive government agencies deliberately suppressing
real science and research. In that sense vaccine victims must leap a much
higher hurdle.
    Despite the perilous odds stacked
against them in vaccine court, the evidence of a vaccine/autism link is so
strong that vaccine court judges and government agencies have now recognized
at least two theories of how vaccines cause autism: the
Vaccine-to-ADEM- to-ASD link in Bailey Banks' case, and vaccine-induced
aggravation of an underlying mitochondrial dysfunction that caused
full-blown autism in the Hannah Poling case. Both theories are different
from those rejected in the three cases last week.
   
Perhaps, these new disclosures will prompt The Times, with all its
influence, to actually make prudent journalistic inquiries into the phony
science CDC uses to defend its claims of "vaccine safety." If it does, the
paper will realize it has once again been ill used by government agencies in
a tragic campaign of public deceit. The Times should make the reasonable
demand that the government health agencies finally release the Vaccine
Safety Datalink for independent scientific research and that CDC and HRSA
lift their opposition to genuine epidemiological studies that might finally
provide real scientific answers to this debate.

A NEW THEORY OF
AUTISM CAUSATION?

    A ruling from Federal Vaccine
Court -- that MMR vaccine caused an autism spectrum disorder in a young boy
named Bailey Banks -- flies directly in the face of the triple-play decision
against a vaccine-autism link issued by the Court on February 12.

    The Special Masters in those three cases inferred
that the vaccine-autism theory was the stuff of Alice in Wonderland fantasy,
and virtually accused the childrens' physicians of medical malpractice.
(CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta called the Court's language "snide," and we agree).

    Meanwhile, the US Department of Health and Human
services said the rulings should "help reassure parents that vaccines do not
cause autism." But why should parents feel reassured when two out of five
autism cases (40%) - that we know of - have won taxpayer-funded compensation
in Vaccine Court?
The Ruling
    In his decision,
Special Master Abell ruled that the MMR vaccine produced a side effect in
Bailey called acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM). ADEM is a
neurological disorder characterized by inflammation of the brain and spinal
cord. The disorder results in damage to the myelin sheath, a fatty coating
that insulates nerve fibers in the brain. ADEM can be caused by natural
infections, especially from the measles virus. But it also is a recognized
post-vaccination injury, especially from vaccines for rabies, pertussis,
influenza, and MMR.
    Evidence presented to support an
MMR-ADEM link was compelling. It included a 1994 report from the Institute
of Medicine that said it was biologically plausible for a vaccine to
"induce... an autoimmune response... by nonspecific activation of the T
cells directed against myelin proteins."
    In fact,
both parties in the Banks case agreed "that the IOM has cited demonstrative
evidence of a biologically plausible relation between the measles vaccine
and demyelinating diseases such as ADEM," the Court wrote.

    Most cases of ADEM (80%) are in children. Symptoms
usually appear within a few days to a couple of weeks. They include:
headache, delirium, lethargy, seizures, stiff neck, fever, ataxia
(incoordination) , optic nerve damage, nausea, vomiting, weight loss,
irritability and changes in mental status.
    I know of
thousands of parents who witnessed many of these same symptoms afflict their
children shortly after vaccination, most typically the MMR. Did these
children with autism also suffer initially from ADEM or some subclinical
version of the disorder? We may never know (physical signs like myelin
damage are transitory).
    Bailey Banks was given an MRI
when his parents brought him to the hospital 16 days after his MMR vaccine,
and that helped confirm his diagnosis. The children I know who were brought
in with similar symptoms were instead given Tylenol and told to go home.

    (Interestingly, Tylenol can affect production of
glutathione, an essential antioxidant and detoxifier. A preliminary study
from UC San Diego showed that children who were given Tylenol after their
MMR vaccine were several times more likely to develop autism than other
children. "Tylenol and MMR was significantly
associated with autistic disorder," the authors wrote. "More
research needs to be completed to confirm the results of this preliminary
study.")
    Is vaccine-induced ADEM (and similar
disorders) a neurological gateway for a subset of children to go on and
develop an ASD? That question will now become subject to debate. Thousands
of parents have reported similar reactions and symptoms following
vaccination, yet they lack radiological proof of ADEM or related disorders
in the form of an MRI. Meanwhile, most children with autism do not present
with myelin damage, but many do test positive for antibodies to myelin basic
protein (MBP).
    Also worth noting is that ADEM causes
an inflammatory response in the brain, primarily in the microglial cells. It
is also associated with abnormal cytokine levels in the brain, and with
autoimmunity. Autism, meanwhile, has been linked to brain inflammation,
microglial cell activation, cytokine imbalances, and autoimmunity.

    In most cases, symptoms of ADEM disappear within a
few weeks or so, and the disorder may be treated with IV cortisone to help
reduce inflammation. But none of the children with autism that I know were
ever examined or treated for a possible case of ADEM or other acute cases of
encephalitis/ demyelinating disorder. By now, their myelin damage may have
repaired itself, yet the damaging agents, (MBP antibodies), persist.

    ADEM is said to be rare, but the disorder may be
grossly under-diagnosed (or misdiagnosed) . Even the government's chief
witness against Bailey's case testified that he sees patients with ADEM "on
a fairly regular basis." What's more, Bailey's was the third successful
vaccine-ADEM case argued in Vaccine Court (that we know of) so
far. 
           

Can ADEM Cause PDD/ASD?

    Special Master Abell had no trouble linking MMR to
ADEM in Bailey Banks' case. But linking his ADEM to PDD/ASD was more
difficult.
    There is no medical literature to support
an ADEM-PDD link. The government's expert witness, Dr. John MacDonald,
testified that "all the medical literature is negative in that regard."
Instead, he proposed an alternative hypothesis for Bailey's PDD (he
suggested it was caused by glucose transporter 1 deficiency).

    But Special Master Abell berated the government's
witness in much the same way that Hastings et al. had criticized witnesses
for the families in their three cases.
    "This
(glucose) hypothesis, which (MacDonald) declined to incorporate as a
plausible, probable theory of explanation, was used by Respondent to blunt
Petitioner's theory of ADEM," Abell wrote. "This hypothesis was not given to
a reasonable degree of medical probability or certainty, and Respondent's
expert admitted that it was merely 'a possible, not necessarily a probable
diagnosis.'"
    Abell also chided MacDonald for his
assertion that "all the medical literature is negative" in regards to an
ADEM-PDD link. "However, soon thereafter, he corrected this statement by
clarifying, 'I can find no literature relating ADEM to autism or [PDD],'"
Abell wrote. "It may be that Respondent's research reveals a dearth of
evidence linking ADEM to PDD, but that is not the same as positive proof
that the two are unrelated, something Respondent was unable to produce.
Therefore, the statement that 'all the medical literature is negative' is
incorrect."
    The Court also took MacDonald to task for
insisting that Bailey's initial symptoms were not 100% consistent with the
signs of ADEM. "His distinction seems one of degree, not of type, and
strikes as a trifle semantic," Abell sniffed. He also noted that McDonald
was having a hard time determining Bailey's current diagnosis. "He
ultimately concluded that 'Bailey falls into the large group of children
with autism/PDD in which by our current evidence-based medicine we rarely
can make a specific diagnosis.'"
    Special Master Abell
seemed to lend more credence to witnesses for the Banks family.

    Chief among them was Dr. Ivan Lopez, a neurologist
and psychiatrist. Dr. Lopez testified that "the majority of patients with
ADEM improve significantly, " but added that "the exception to this rule is
when patients have been exposed to measles, just like in the case of MMR
vaccine," in which case subsequent brain damage "may occur in up to 50
percent of patients." He said such events include "mental syndromes such as
PDD and others," and opined that "up to 50 percent of patients...who have
had ADEM will show (PDD) as a consequence. "
    Dr.
Lopez, a member of the US Military, gave his testimony by phone from Mobile,
AL where, the next day, he was to ship out for a tour of duty in
Iraq. 
              

 In his conclusion, Special
Master Abell wrote:
    The Court found that Bailey's
ADEM was both caused-in-fact and proximately caused by his vaccination. It
is well-understood that the vaccination at issue can cause ADEM, and the
Court found, based upon a full reading and hearing of the pertinent facts in
this case, that it did actually cause the ADEM. Furthermore, Bailey's ADEM
was severe enough to cause lasting, residual damage, and retarded his
developmental progress, which fits under the generalized heading of
Pervasive Developmental Delay, or PDD. The Court found that Bailey would not
have suffered this delay but for the administration of the MMR vaccine, and
that this chain of causation was not too remote, but was rather a proximate
sequence of cause and effect leading inexorably from vaccination to
Pervasive Developmental Delay.
         

And he added this:

    Petitioner's theory of PDD caused by vaccine-related
ADEM causally connects the vaccination and the ultimate injury, and does so
by explaining a logical sequence of cause and effect showing that the
vaccination was the ultimate reason for the injury.
Does Bailey Banks
Have Autism?
    Bailey Banks does not have "classic" or
full-blown autism. But he has been diagnosed with PDD-NOS, which is squarely
on the autism spectrum of disorders. There was quite a bit of back-and-forth
on Bailey's diagnosis in the ruling, whose heading included the term
"Non-autistic developmental delay." At several points in the proceedings,
witnesses took great pains to say that Bailey does not have "autism" which,
technical speaking, is true.
    On the other hand,
Special Master Abell included notations declaring that "Pervasive
Developmental Delay describes a class of conditions, and it is apparent from
the record that the parties and the medical records are referring to
Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS)."

    Even so, some will argue that Bailey does not have an
ASD. They are simply wrong. The diagnosis of PDD-NOS was added to the list
of autism spectrum disorders in the 1980s. It was precisely from the
inclusion of these "milder" cases into the total number, that the CDC came
up with the estimate of 1-in-150 US children with some form of "autism/ASD. "

    So, if Bailey does not have ASD, then the number of
"autism" cases is well below the 1-in-150 mark and needs to be revised
downward (the CDC once estimated that 40% of ASD cases were "non-autistic"
in the classic sense).
    What's more, Bailey does not
have a "mild" form of ASD -- he struggles every day with endless challenges.
He receives autism services in his home state and attends a special school
for children with autism. Bailey was also completely eligible to file a case
in the Court's Omnibus Autism Proceedings (OAP), along with 5,000 other
claims.
    And besides, if the government chooses
after-the-fact to argue that Banks simply has another form of brain damage
but not, specifically "autism," is that really any comfort?

    This particular theory of causation --
Vaccine-to-ADEM- to-ASD -- is different from the three cases that lost, and
different than the theory in the Hannah Poling case (vaccine-induced
aggravation of an underlying mitochondrial dysfunction caused full-blown
autism).
    So we now have two novel theories of how
vaccines might contribute to ASD -- both ADEM and mitochondrial dysfunction
are recognized by the Court as contributing factors.
   
And yet the government insists it has never made an award for vaccine
induced ASD, just vaccine related ASD.
    "The
government has never compensated, nor has it ever been ordered to
compensate, any case based on a determination that autism was actually
caused by vaccines," said David Bowman, a spokesman for HHS's Health
Resources and Services Administration. "We have compensated cases in which
children exhibited an encephalopathy, or general brain disease.
Encephalopathy may be accompanied by a medical progression of an array of
symptoms including autistic behavior, autism, or seizures."

    "Some children who have been compensated for vaccine
injuries may have shown signs of autism before the decision to compensate,"
he added, "or may ultimately end up with autism or autistic symptoms, but we
do not track cases on this basis.
    Unfortunately, the
track record on vaccines is cloudy in this particular Court: Three out of
four ADEM cases have been successful; and (at least) two out of five ASD
cases have also won.
    People will argue that ADEM is
rare; that vaccines "only" caused PDD in Bailey; and that this was a legal
and not scientific decision. The problem is we don't know how prevalent ADEM
is because we never looked; while "PDD" is interchangeable with "ASD" in the
language of public health. And, the three cases that lost were also "legal"
decisions.
    Robert Kennedy, Jr. and I would love
nothing more than to reassure parents that the nation's current vaccine
program is 100% safe for all kids, and that zero credible evidence has been
presented to link vaccines with autism. But that simply isn't true -- as at
least two court cases have found.

because before, most of us thought that Chemtrails were meant to kill us,
sure enough, but now we are beginning to see that these Chemtrails are just
one more element needed by the plutocracy for the rapid and sudden depopulation
of the world. 
     

    So read on
carefully and be ashamed of yourself for having never done anything... such as a
world revolution, in order to destroy totally the enemy: 
The International Plutocracy. 
Those wealthy guys may very well kill me for saying that but if they do, it will
be the ultimate proof that I am right while they are criminally guilty. . . they
planned to kill everybody and now they are doing just that by
poisoning the air, the water and the food we consume!  Prior to killing us,
this poisoning ensures that the intended victims lose their will to resist
which helps poisoning possibilities.    
     
    As a matter of fact, observe that the guilty
plutocracy is never accused - even though they alone are guilty of the very
worst atrocities.  They are  never even mentionned, while accused and
attacked are some poor, unimportant persons, frequently colored, often total
strangers, completely unaware of what is going on.  And this is the real
threat to the U.S.A. :  If the 300
million "citizens" of that country are no better than that, let them all
die after proper torture... while the wealthy few can laugh their head off and
eat their victims (well cooked and with FRENCH fries).

 
   
But in fact, we are right now in
a dreadful situation where the majority of people refuse to THINK and fight
back, preferring to be "patriots" not caring at all about the atrocities that
are going on  and being strictly obedient to their terrorist government, at
the same time as  a minority of very wealthy good-for-nothing rule the
country murdering and stealing  BECAUSE  they are ABOVE the law. We
cannot be surprised that we are getting to a final world
depopulation.

What Chemtrails Really Are

     What are
they ultimately trying to do up there . . . is create charged-particle,
plasma beam weapons.
    Chemtrails are the medium - GWEN
pulse radars, the various HAARPs, and space-based lasers are the method, or
more simply:
    Chemtrails are the medium. Directed energy
is the method.
Spray and
Zap.
           

    This system appears to be in Russia, Canada, the United States, and all of Europe.
Exotic weapons can be mobile, stationary, land-based, aerial, or
satellite.
    It is an offensive and defensive system
against EM attacks and missiles. It uses ionospheric particle shells as
defense mechanisms [like a bug-zapper shell]* against missiles and EM attacks.
That means they spray and then pump up the spray with
electromagnetics. 
    When these shells are created
using the oscillating, electromagnetic, gyrotron stations, it "excludes" and
displaces the background magnetic field. These shells can be layered one above
another in a canopy fashion for extra protection from
missiles. 
    The chemtrail sprays have various
elements in them like carbon which can be used to absorb microwaves. Some
of these sprays have metal flakes in them that make aerial craft invisible to
radar. Spoofer sprays. Sprays like these can be used to create colorful,
magnetized plasmas to cloak fighter jets.
    There are
satellite weapons involved. Activists are using meters and are getting
readings of microwaves, x-rays, and some other kind of emission that they are
not sure of, maybe a low-intensity laser.
    They are also
photographing gas plasma generation due to the heating of chemtrails by
electromagnetics. The technical names for vertical and horizontal plasma
columns are columnar focal lenses and horizontal drift plasma
antennas. 
    Various size of gas plasma orbs are
associated with this technology. These orbs can be used as transmitters and
receivers because they have great, refractory and optical properties. They
also are capable of transmitting digital or analog sound. Barium, in fact, is
very refractive -- more refractive than glass.
    What does
that mean? Someone or someones are very involved in unconstitutional, domestic
spying and the entrained plasma orbs carried on electromagnetic beams can be
used for mind control programming. The satellites can be programmed to track
and monitor various frequencies on different parts of your
body. 
    These electromagnetic beams carrying the gas
plasma orbs stick due magnetic polarity and frequency mapping and tracking to
people's eyes, ears, temples, and private parts. A beam with entrained orbs
carries pictures in each orb just like the different frames in a movie. It is
a particle beam that is also a frequency weapon.
    The
satellites download holographic mind control movies, pictures, sounds, and
sensations to people through this technology. The Air Force has stated in "Air
Force 2025" that their goal is to develop virtual and augmented reality mind
control. Depending on how the computer is programmed or depending on the
mood or intent of the person interfacing with the technology, you can be
probed, bothered, gaslighted, frightened, manipulated, electronically raped,
or tortured. It scans your brain frequencies and deciphers your thoughts. The
satellites track you by mapping your bioenergetic signature [body biometrics]
and constantly scanning an area to find you.
    We are the
lab rats for this technology and something is very wrong in the military or
intelligence branches somewhere. Because developmental projects in government
and military are often so compartmentalized, I suppose someone could be using
and developing this technology secretly and without authorization. Then again,
behavioral and mind control programs were an authorized policy under MKULTRA.
Our country has a history of experimenting on its own citizens. We are talking
about satellite charged-particle frequency weapons attacking a person 24 hours
a day. Psychotronic weapons are considered weapons of mass destruction by the
U.N.
    "HAARPs" can create earthquakes and can also x-ray
the earth to find underground military bases, gold, or oil reserves. These
ionospheric heaters can also operate as an over-the-horizon or under-the-ocean
communications system. This system can control the weather or create
disasters. Taken together with the aurora keyhole through-your- roof satellite
surveillance system, Echelon electronic computer/phone sweeps, plasma-cloaked
DOD Drug War helicopters and stealths, implants, and cameras on the street, it
constitutes one, big global and space control grid.
   
These weapons involve beams. Two beams overlapped will couple into a
particle-ion beam that will bounce off of a remote target and send a
holographic image back to the satellite for remote spying operations. When you
cross two strong beams, you can supposedly* create scalar energies. These
energies can be used as untraceable weapons for nuclear size explosions or for
defense. These crossed-energies can be used to cause a person's physical
electrical system to fail or with a lower frequency, administer a kind of
remote electro-shock. Visualize touching a positive and negative electric
cable to each other on top of your head. Scalar energies can be utilized in
hand-held military guns and on tanks. They can dud-out electronics or cause
large, electrical blackouts. Scalar energies are practically impossible to
shield against. You need lead, ceramics, and a deep underground facility to
not be affected by these weapons. Or, you need to be up and above the field of
battle.
    People who are working on these issues hear
tones and hums. If you hear persistent tones and static; have body vibrations,
burning sensations, "bangs" to the head, neurological damage, or immune system
damage; are hearing electronic voices or hearing the sound of a plasma;
suffering from pains deep in your organs or constant headaches; or
experiencing other anomalous activity then you may be being targeted by
directed energy, mind control weapons. These weapons could be on helicopters,
jets, stealth fighters, or on satellites. Directed energy beams and
electromagnetic waves can be sent to you via hand-held devices or piggy-backed
in on cell phone and satellite towers.
    Is it possible
that someone(s) are very afraid of coming famines and riots due to the
ongoing, man-induced failure of the ecological system, and they are saturating
the earth with chemtrails for large-scale, gas plasma mind control? Is this
the last grasp for the world's resources? Or, are they just control freaks and
money mongers? Someone would like to get to that oil under the melting [due to
chemtrail-trapped EM heat] Artic. And, I guess the Third World is not a part
of this system. I don't think that the developed nations are going to let them
in on this either.
    Any country that joins this NATO
system will become mind-controlled and diseased due to the associated,
intense, oscillating, electromagnetic fields, electromagnetic soup, and the
poisonous, toxic chemtrails. Our DNA will break. We risk the earth's spin and
tilt becoming messed up due to mucking around with the magnetic fields through
this military technology. Maybe, it is already messed
up.
    It constitutes U.S. global domination via NATO and
the erosion of civil rights. According to Charlotte Iserbyt and Al Martin,
there are ex-KGB and ex-STASI advising our new Office of Total Information
Awareness. They are the ones creating our new internal passports [national
ID]. And under "The Treaty on Open Skies," we have overflights by Russian and
German military. Who exactly is flying those plasma-cloaked craft that are
seen all over this country and mistaken for UFOs by people who do not know
about this aerial deception technology? Obviously, we have another "Project
Paperclip" in the making. We can add the new thugs to the 2,000 Iraqi brought
into the country by Daddy Bush who are now living in
Nebraska.
    The elitist corporate government is going to
hold the rest of us hostage with directed energy weapons in space, if the
Policy for a New American Century group - PNAC - Bush and cronie think tank
has their way, along with directed energy attacks against any country or
citizen that they decide they do not like. These weapons can create climate
war, weather war, mind war, cyber war, disease war, disaster war, and
undetectable war. Taken together they can create economic
war.
    If this system is not stopped, it will kill
billions due to aluminum and barium
poisoning. It will kill billions due to crop failures and
world-wide famine. It will cause heart attacks, strokes, and cancers. It will
cause stillbirths, miscarriages, and infertility. The chemtrail sprays often
have fungi, bacteria, viruses, dessicated red blood cells, crystalline
substances, carbon, metal cations, lithium, other chemicals, heavy metals, and
God knows what - probably smart dust, or nanocrap. Years of biowarfare testing
on the American public is no big secret anymore. Spraying germs in the sky
where they mutate due to the ultra-violet light -- brillant plan, my man. Are
we acceptable losses or is this by design?
    I know that
many of the major players have big investments in pharmaceutical companies, GM
seeds [seeds that can grow in an electromagnetic soup], weapons and directed
energy development contracts, oil contracts, genetic research, and mind
control research. Some of these people have had a familial history of
financial and policy support for population control, eugenics, Hitler, Mao,
Stalin, Lenin, Marx, Pinochet, Hussein, and various other dictators. Some of
the major players were the masterminds of the death squads in Central and
South America. They stand to make a big profit on our death and disease. Just
take a look at Rumsfield and Tamiflu.
    I assume that
they know the dangers of this system and that they take care to stay in their
shielded, air-filtered offices, homes, bases, and cars. I assume they take
chelating substances to remove the barium and aluminum from their bodies and
minds. If not, then they really do not understand the far-ranging implications
of this destructive system. Congress may not understand just what a terrible
weapons system and control grid they are funding.
    As I
understand it, Tesla towers attached to deep-earth, free-energy taps are to be
created over the 10-12 magnetic poles and the GWEN system phased-out. Has this
already been done? This should allow total control of the earth through giant,
Tesla death ray-guns. This natural, electromagnetic earth was not meant to be
an un-natural dynamo to power man's weapons or his utility
companies.
    Over-unity systems [Tesla devices]* are as of
yet, another unexplored and probably not understood man-made energy. We should
be very suspect of free energy. 
    As we can see, the
forms of man-made energy that have been created and used in the past have not
been good for this planet. Maybe it is time to reconsider the options
available to us through the development of crops for fuel, wind, solar, and
water power. We need world-wide, different, more holistic, renewable, energy
programs.
    Is there any good news? Yes. There has been
tons of particulate dumping through the spray operations for 8 years over the
Americas, Europe, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, and from what I can find out,
over Russia. 
    And, what goes around blows around,
right? So, these substances are probably actually global. It sure makes a ton
of sense to spray poisonous elements in 24 NATO countries and let the
substances be carried around the earth on the jet streams to poison yourself,
your enemies, and all neutral and non-combatent countries. Talk about making
more enemies.
    The water, air, and soil of all of these
countries is so saturated with metal cations that these weapons freaks should
be able to zap and mind f--k each other quite well now and as often as they
wish. Once they have clobbered each other with light-saber beams for a few
years and razed and scorched sections of the earth, they may start to realize
that this foreign policy will lead to a defective human race and a rotten
economy. Do you think they will have knocked some sense into each other by
then and will decide that non-proliferation and arms reduction is the more
civilized and mature direction to take in world affairs? I doubt it, cause
only idiots would have developed horrific, planet-killer weapons like these.
But, I'll bet the rest of the planet will finally rise up and tell these
juvenile delinquents to quit playing with those rayguns right this
second.
    After further thought on Bearden + -- a big
over-unity and free energy proponent of Tesla technology that makes energy off
of boiling the ionosphere or stealing electricity from the mis-named "vacumn"
called Life, I have decided that Bearden is telling us some, if not most, of

Unprecedented “Tidal Wave Of Death� Set To Overtake World, Warns

    Russian Health Ministry Officials reporting to
President Medvedev today are warning in their reports that the World must
prepare for a “tidal wave of death� of
“unprecedented dimension� due to the current swine flu pandemic sweeping
across the Globe at frightening speed.
    Raising the
concerns of Russian Scientists, these reports say, is not the current H1N1
variant of the new Swine Influenza Virus, but its “certainty� to mix with
the much more deadly H5N1
variant known as Bird Flu, and of which we can
read:
    “In October 2004, researchers discovered that
H5N1 is far more dangerous than was previously believed. Waterfowl were
revealed to be directly spreading the highly pathogenic strain of H5N1 to
chickens, crows, pigeons, and other birds, and the virus was increasing its
ability to infect mammals as well. From this point on, avian flu experts
increasingly referred to containment as a strategy that can delay, but not
ultimately prevent, a future avian flu pandemic.�
    Even
worse for our World, these reports continue, is that this new H1N1 variant
Swine Flu already contains RNA segments of the dreaded H5N1 Bird Flu along
with H3N2 swine flu variant only previously found in China, South Korea and
Vietnam in a ‘mixture’ that United Nations Scientists say could only have
been possible due to deliberate manipulation, and as we can
read:
    “According to a source known to former NSA
official Wayne Madsen, “A top scientist for the United Nations, who has
examined the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in Africa, as well as
HIV/AIDS victims, concluded that H1N1 possesses certain transmission
“vectors� that suggest that the new flu strain has been
genetically- manufactured as a military biological warfare
weapon.�
    These new fears being raised by the UN, we
had previously reported on many times, including our April 9, 2005 report
“World’s Scientists Confirm Human Origin of Deadly Flu Virus as United
States Prepares for Institution of Martial Law� wherein we reported from the
Wired News Service:
   
“Samples taken from South Korean pigs contain genes from a human flu virus
created by scientists in 1933, and one American flu researcher says the
sequences could represent a dangerous situation for humans.

    The World Health Organization, which monitors the
worldwide spread of flu, is remaining mum until researchers finish an
investigation of the pig samples.
    The presence of a
man-made human flu virus in pigs may be worrisome for several reasons.
First, a man-made virus has no business in pigs -- did the virus get there
naturally, or was it a lab accident? More frighteningly, but less likely,
was it bioterrorism? Second, viruses often use pigs as a conduit to humans,
who would have little or no immune resistance to this particular strain of
flu since no one has been exposed to it.
    "In terms of
flu, pigs have always represented a danger to humans because these animals
act as a mixing vessel for various strains of influenza," said Dick
Thompson, a spokesman for the World Health
Organization.
    But WHO won't be convinced that the data
is real -- that the human sequences are not a result of laboratory
contamination instead of human virus in a pig -- until more laboratories can
verify the samples.
    Henry Niman, founder of
Recombinomics and a researcher who has sleuthed the spread of bird flu and
its changing genetic makeup for two years, says the investigation is moving
too slowly. If pigs in Korea are carrying a man-made human flu, authorities
should take action immediately to prevent it from
spreading.�
    Russian Scientists further point out in
their reports that the difference between the mortality rates in the United
States and Mexico from this bizarre Swine Flu variant is due to the American
public having been previously “introduced� to a H3N8 RNA component of the
Bird Flu unleashed upon dogs in their country 4 years ago which is currently
giving these people more immunity than the Mexican people, and which we
reported on in our June 10, 2005 report, “Mutated Bird Flu Hits Dogs in
United States, Tens of Thousands Killed as US Government Issues News
Censorship Orders Under New Quarantine Provision Laws�, and wherein we had
reported:
    “The fatalities in greyhounds this season
appear to parallel the deaths in Florida last year, but the scope of the
infections is markedly greater this season.  Last season dog racing
tracks were closed in Florida, but this season the closings are nationwide
and the number of fatal infections has increased markedly. Last season H3N8
avian influenza was isolated in Florida.  This was the first reported
isolation of influenza virus from dogs.  H3N8 has been previously
associated with equine influenza.  There have been H3N8 outbreaks in
horses in Florida, Wisconsin, and Kentucky, which may be related to the
outbreak in racing dogs.�
    Now, to anyone wanting the
greatest understanding of this current Swine Flu Pandemic, they must
understand the vital connection it has with this H3N8 component that
‘mysteriously jumped’ from horses to birds, a critical component to this
unfolding story especially when viewed in light of the US Military this past
week releasing the following information:
    “Vials of a
potentially harmful pathogen have gone missing at Fort Detrick, the Army’s
main biodefense lab. The samples of Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis (VEE)
virus are relatively small. The Army has found “no evidence yet of criminal
misconduct,� the Washington Post reports. And the virus usually causes only
“a mild flulike illnessâ€� â€" although “brain inflammation and deathâ€� are
possible, too. “It has potential for use as a biological weapon but is far
less lethal than some other agents
the lab works
with.�
    To the significance of the US Military
releasing this information when they did, we can further read as reported by
the UPI News Service:
    “An investigation of the death
of 21 polo horses centers on whether they died from a toxin, a virus or a
contagious disease, said officials in Wellington, Fla.
   
"The magnitude of this is shocking," said Peter Rizzo, executive director of
the United States Polo Association. "Whatever killed these horses, we don't
want to see it again." The horses died Sunday, some collapsing on the polo
grounds where hundreds of people had come to watch the U.S. Open Polo
Championship, while others died in a nearby stable, The Palm Beach (Fla.)
Post reported Tuesday.
    The horses belonged to team
Lechuza Caracas, owned by Venezuelan multimillionaire Victor Vargas who
cradled several of the horses in his arms as they lay dying, the Post
reported.�
    There are those, of course, who will claim
that it is just a coincidence that after the top banker for Venezuelan
President Hugo Chavez, Victor Vargas, had 21 of his finest horses killed,
the US Military reports the missing vials of Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis
from their main bioweapon lab.  But, to those knowing how the World’s
Intelligence Organizations and Military Services communicate with one
another, the message from the US Military about the attack on these horses
from Venezuela could not have been plainer: “Prepare for an imminent
bioattack!�
    And as we had reported in our April 25,
2009 report, “Mexican Drug Cartel Linked With al Qaeda Unleashes Pandemic�,
this is exactly what occurred with the unleashing of this Swine Flu bio
weapon by the powerful Sinaloa Cartel and their CIA backed al Qaeda allies,
and which from these new Russian reports point to it having been an aerosol
type release which prior to its full unleashing upon the Mexican people the
operatives responsible could not resist the opportunity to also hurt
Chavez.
    Even worse for our World is the fact that the
US Military now controls both the causes and the cures for this new Swine
Flu virus as they, not the World Health Organization, are the holders to the
secrets of the most dreaded diseases on Earth, and as we can
read: 
    “A large and rapidly growing global US
military virus collection system parallels the World Health Organization' s
Global Influenza Surveillance Network (WHO GISN) but does not entirely share
its public health purposes.
    The US military system is
a source of viruses for the WHO GISN; but it does not give most of its virus
collections to WHO. It does keep all the lab specimens and viruses it
collects for its own use.
    Wider knowledge of the
extent of the US military virus collection system and its ambiguous
relationship to the WHO GISN system will raise important questions for the
WHO Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Inter-Governmental Meeting (PIP IGM),
which will convene in Geneva the second week of
December.
    The extent of the Pentagon's quiet but large
virus collecting and its relationships with the WHO GISN will surprise many.
For example, the Pentagon claims credit for having collected several
important influenza viruses that were subsequently selected by WHO for use
in seasonal and H5N1 pre-pandemic vaccines from 2000 through the present,
including viruses from Panama, Peru, Nepal, Malaysia, and
Indonesia.�
    This information on the US Military
becomes even more critical when combined with the information we released on
July 4, 2008, in our report titled “Top French Bird Flu Researcher Brutally
Murdered In London�, and wherein we had stated:
    “Most
interesting about these reports, however, is not just the brutal murder of
Mr. Bonomo, but the area of study he was embarked upon at London’s Imperial
Collage, one of the World’s premier institutions investigating the deadly
H5N1 Avian Flu Virus, and which is being reported to be the claim made by
the Indonesian Government that this deadly virus has been ‘engineered’
by the United
States.
    Indonesian Health Minister
Siti Fadillah Supari has joined an ever growing list of government officials
calling for the ‘immediate’ closure of the United States Naval Medical
Research Unit 2 (NAMRU-2) located in their Nation, and has
stated:
    “This laboratory has been in Indonesia without
a permit for over 40 years for research of diseases. Various types of
viruses from Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Indonesia had been studied in this
laboratory," she said.
    The minister suspected that the
results of the research work may be used for a certain dangerous and
mysterious target and she was also very concerned about the government for
being unable to prevent the country from threats of foreign powers already
inside the country.�
    It is also important to note that
yesterday, Indonesia’s Health Minister continued her warnings about the US
and this bioengineered Swine Flu, and as we can read as reported by Iran’s
Press News Service:
    “As swine flu continues to take
its toll, claims surface that the deadly four-part flu virus could have been
created for "bio-terror attacks." Speaking at a conference to reassure the
public over her government's response to the swine flu threat, Indonesian
Heath Minister Siti Fadilah Supari said Tuesday that the controversial virus
could have been man-made.
    She declined to elaborate on
her claim but she had previously accused Western
governments of making and spreading viruses in the developing world to boost
pharmaceutical companies' profits.�
   
Important to note in Dr. Supari’s warnings is the fact that those who stand
the most to gain in this current pandemic are those of the US
Military-Intelligen ce-Political- Media Establishment, including former US
Secretary of Defense Donald
Rumsfeld, and former US Secretary of State George Shultz who are among the major stock
holders of the pharmaceutical company that makes the anti-viral drug
Tamiflu.
    The amassing of hundreds of millions of
dollars during times of crisis like these are the stock in trade for these
American Oligarchs as during the 2001 Anthrax attacks upon the United
States, the Bush Family and their cronies, through their ownership of the
$95 Billion worth Carlyle Group, made tens of millions from the sale of the
former Nazi German owned Bayer Pharmaceutical antibiotic drug
Cipro.
    To any skeptical, or disbelieving Americans,
who cannot comprehend the madness being perpetrated against them, they only
have themselves to blame as the September 11, 2001 attacks upon their Nation
proved, beyond all doubt, that these people have
lost nearly all of their ability to separate fact from
fiction. And, nowhere is this more evident than in the fact
that as the World begins closing its doors to North America, and as Egypt is
now joining other Nations in calling for the wholesale destruction of pigs,
and as Nation after Nation begins banning the importation of North American
pork products, the United States is allowing their borders to stay open and
is warning the World not to ban its pork.
    Russia, of
course, is laughing off these new warnings from the US and is now even
expanding its bans on North American meat products, while China has just
issued a warning to the Americans to quit blaming it for this new Swine Flu,
as both Nations are aware of the insidious plans being laid for the massacre
of tens of millions due to this bio attack.
    To the CIA
being the financial backers of the giant US swine corporation Smithfield’s
move to Mexico where it has created the World’s largest pig murdering
operation and is said to be the epicenter of this new Swine Flu virus we
cannot say.
    What can be said though is this, for
anyone unleashing an aerosol bioengineered influenza virus in Mexico they
couldn’t have picked a better place if their planning was for the unleashing
of a Global Pandemic on a scale not seen since the Spanish Flu outbreak of
1918, especially when combined with the fact that pigs are natures natural
breeding ground for flu viruses and this ‘interesting’ 2004 report from the
US Center for Infectious Disease Research & Policy that
says:
    “The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC) will soon launch experiments designed to combine the H5N1 virus and
human flu viruses and then see how the resulting hybrids affect animals. The
goal is to assess the chances that such a "reassortant" virus will emerge
and how dangerous it might be.�
    Today we know that
answer…it’s dangerous, really, really dangerous!

Math.
    The greater Mexico City Metropolitan area has a
population of 22 million people according to Wikipedia.
   
Many millions of them live in crushing poverty, poor health and with poor
sanitary conditions.
    1,000 "cases" (which is higher than
the so-far reported number) equals 0.005% of the population. 60 deaths equals
0.0003% of the
population.
          

#2 Deaths? 
    Of the few deaths, no one has
mentioned who these casualties are. Are they elderly or infirm people who
could just as easily be killed by the common cold or a slip and fall? It makes
a
difference.
            

#3 The long history of government/pharmace utical industry
scams
    These guys have tried to institute national flu
vaccination programs before. The last time was 1976 (under Gerald Ford). The
public recognized the foolishness and danger involved in accepting the
government vaccine and rejected it. The much-threatened "pandemic" never

Media pigs misinforming public about so-called
"epidemic"

           

Dear Friend, 
    Those filthy swine... The swine
flu "epidemic" is only a few days old, and Big Pharma is already plotting to make a
fortune. 
    European drug maker Roche announced it was scaling up production of
Tamiflu, giving a boost to its stock price and sending millions into the Roche
coffers. GlaxoSmithKline, which makes the anti-flu drug Relenza, is also
seeing its stock price climb, as investors hope this swine flu is the biggest
thing since the bubonic plague. 
    There's only one
problem here â€" it's not going to happen. You read the Daily Dose because I
always give you the straight scoop, and because I'm not afraid to tell you
when the mainstream has it wrong. 
    And they have it
wrong on swine flu. It won't be an epidemic â€" it'll barely even be a ripple.
I've run medical clinics in Africa â€" I know what
an epidemic looks like. 
   
And this isn't it.

          

    The media is blowing swine flu out of proportion so it
can feed its 24-hour news cycle â€" the same media, mind you, that had us
convinced that avian flu was going to destroy the planet a few years
ago. 
    But here are the facts about swine flu â€" it
has affected so few people in America that it's hardly worth discussing. There
are 64 confirmed cases in America as I'm writing this â€" not 6,000 or even 600.
There are 64. 
    Of course, the media is fixated on
the 100 or so people who have died in Mexico from the swine flu. But let me
clue you into something that no one seems to be discussing â€" health care in
Mexico is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. I
know â€" I've been there more times than I can
count. 
    Disease spreads rapidly through Mexico
because large areas of the country lack clean water and basic sanitation.
Seeing a doctor â€" let alone a qualified doctor â€" is a luxury unavailable to
most of the population. Of course the flu is killing people in Mexico â€" so are
a lot of other diseases that are successfully treated in America. People in
Mexico still die from diarrhea, for Pete's sake! 
   
Yes, they have apparently had some cases of bad swine flu in Mexico. They've
had lots of dengue fever and chagas, too, but you don't need to stay up at
night worrying about it. Beating the swine flu isn't any different from
beating the regular flu. Wash your hands. Avoid large crowds if you can. Get
plenty of rest and fluids if you start getting
sick. 
    And don't be afraid to eat pork or any other
meat, for that matter, as it's not the pigs who are getting sick. Of course,
I'm not recommending you eat Mexican pork â€" or any food produced in Mexico,
for that matter. Hopefully the tainted peppers outbreak of 2008 taught us
that. But don't change your diet because of some so-called swine flu
epidemic. 
    It's no epidemic. It's no public health
catastrophe. It's good theatre â€" and nothing more.

Italy, May 5,
2009-The climax to the Seventh Palestinians in Europe conference was the
launch of the long anticipated ‘Hope for Gaza convoy’ The convoy
moved to Gaza and recently is in the Mediterranean carried by a shipping
boat.
The convoy is
destined for the Gaza Strip and carries provisions for the education and
medical sectors, specifically for Palestinians with special needs â€"
those who were handicapped by the major Israeli attacks of December and
January.
Through
a chorus of cheers and tears the convoy of a dozen well-equipped ambulances
and some 30 trucks loaded with medical and humanitarian supplies set sail on
a cargo ship from Genoa along with human rights volunteers, European
parliamentarians, and journalists.

Non-governmental organizations, institutions and human solidarity movements
across the continent are part of the global movement campaigning for the
besieged people in Gaza. They are forming a strong coalition of activists,
professionals from various backgrounds, politicians, human rights
organizations who are dedicated in bringing to light Israeli crimes and
violations of international law as well as the routine imprisonment of the
Palestinian people in their homes.

Beginning in Milan on Sunday evening the convoy travelled to the Italian port
city of Genoa where it set sail for Alexandria, Egypt. From there it will
travel by land Sinai with the intention of passing into the Gaza Strip
through the Rafah border crossing.

Representatives of Palestinian rights groups chanted slogans of solidarity
saying that “Gaza is a symbol of pride.� With thousands of people
killed or injured, in addition to the destruction of home and business, the
convoy is urgently needed to deliver some respite and gestures of kindness to
a people who are in danger in losing hope in basic human kindness.  Past
convoys have found it difficult to deliver the desperately needed aid, at
present we can only be cautiously optimistic that this convoy will be allowed
to pass.

Palestinian flags waved high above the cheers and tears as the convoy set
out. Dr. Arafat Madi, President of the European Campaign to Lift the Siege on
Gaza, said, “What we are doing is the least we can do. It is a drop in
the ocean compared to the sacrifices made by our people in
Palestine..��Dr. Madi added, “We promised our people in the
West Bank and Gaza Strip We will invest all our efforts to send these aids
and medical kits for those who deserve it in Gaza. Many people have been left
maimed and disabled. All of us agree that they need urgent aid, especially
medical aids to help in their grueling rehabilitation from the latest.�

The convoy is headed by 12 high-profile politicians from across Europe
including, Britain, Italy, Scotland, Switzerland and Greece. Also joining the
convoy will be many people from the Arab and Muslim communities from various
European countries.

A United Nations inquiry into attacks
by Israeli forces on UN property during the Gaza conflict four months
ago has heavily criticised Israel's army.

It found Israel to blame in six out of nine incidents when death
and injuries were caused to people sheltering at UN property and UN
buildings were damaged.

In one case, Palestinian militants were found to have fired at a UN warehouse.

The UN recommends further investigation into possible war crimes. Israel has branded the report "highly unbalanced".

The investigation rejects Israel's claim that militants
were firing from the Fakhura school when at least 40 people outside the
school were killed in shellfire.

The board of inquiry also criticises Israel's use of white
phosphorous shells which caused the incineration of UN's main food
warehouse in Gaza.

The Israeli foreign ministry said UN investigators had ignored
evidence given by Israel and had sided with the Palestinian Hamas
movement.

"The spirit of the report and its language are tendentious and
entirely unbalanced and ignore the facts as they were presented to the
commission," it said in a statement.

"The commission prefers the positions of Hamas, a murderous terror organization, and by doing so misleads the world public."

'Untrue'



The BBC's Laura Trevelyan at the UN says it is a hard-hitting report
which includes heavy criticism of the Israeli military's actions and
subsequent explanations and justifications.

The UN board's first recommendation seeks "formal acknowledgment" by
Israel that its public statements that Palestinians fired from a UN
school and from within the UN's field office compound "were untrue and
are regretted".

Another says the UN should take appropriate action to seek
accountability and reparation for all deaths and injuries involving its
personnel and property.

The report says Israel's actions were in breach of the agreement
that UN premises and those sheltering within them should be immune from
attack, something which cannot be set aside for military action.

The board says investigating the deaths of the 40 people killed outside the Fakhura school is outside its remit.

It recommends that this and allegations of war crimes committed in
Gaza and southern Israel by Palestinian militants and Israel should be
investigated by another inquiry.

The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has stressed this report is not a legal document.

UN pushing Israel toward legal
proceedings

In pursuit of the case of Israeli war
crimes, the United Nations moves to report to the Security Council that UN
facilities in Gaza had been targeted willfully.

After the United Nations Works and Relief Agency (UNRWA) compound became the
target of GPS-guided Israeli mortars on January 15, the UN set up a commission
to bring Israeli human rights violations in Gaza out into the open.

The commission -- led by the former British secretary-general of human rights
group Amnesty International, Ian Martin -- assembled a report on Israeli
actions in Gaza for submission to the Security Council.

"Israel deliberately fired at UN institutions even though it knew it was
forbidden", read the report.

According to Israeli daily Ynet, the report blames Israel for
disproportionate fire and excessive use of force and goes on to confirm that
IDF forces shot at Palestinian civilians unnecessarily and excessively.

A member of the American delegation at the UN described the report as
"unprecedented in its gravity towards Israel."

"Israel will have to lick the wounds of the report for many years, if the
current wording is accepted as it is," the source was quoted as saying.

The report which includes serious charges against Israel has ruffled feathers
in Israel, raising fears that it would prompt legal proceedings.

As the commission gets set to submit the report to the council on Tuesday,
Israel made a move to reject the findings of the controversial report on
Tuesday saying that Hamas "are misleading the investigators, the UN and
public opinion."

Israel is suspected of committing war crimes including the use of the deadly
white phosphorus shells in densely populated civilian areas, as revealed in an
investigation by The Times in January.

While Israel initially denied using the controversial weapon, later mounting
evidence forced Israeli officials to admit to having employed the shells.

Earlier in April, the IDF issued a statement claiming that Israeli probes had
found that its forces did not violate international law during the recent war
in Gaza.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said in its Tuesday statement that Israel has held
an independent review of its behavior during Operation Cast Lead and "the
conclusions of these probes were released two weeks ago and they proved beyond
all doubt that there was no deliberate shooting by the IDF at UN
facilities."

UN war crimes team prepares for
Gaza visit

UN investigators are discussing the details
of their planned mission to Israel and the Gaza Strip in Geneva, with little
hope of Israeli cooperation.

The experts, who form the United Nations fact-finding mission, are tasked with
studying allegations of war crimes and other instances of human rights abuse
during Israel's recent military offensive in Gaza.

The four-member team, led by South African judge and former International War
Crimes Prosecutor Richard Goldstone, began a weeklong meeting in the Swiss city
on Monday.

"The intention of the meeting next week is obviously to make an itinerary,
make a plan, set up appointments and then, of course to get tickets,
visas," UN Spokesman Rolando Gomez explained.

The UN Human Rights Council set up the mission in mid-January, after Israel's
23-day military offensive in Gaza, which claimed more than 1,330 Palestinian
lives, injured over 5,000 and left around 60,000 others homeless.

According to Tel Aviv's statistics, three Israeli civilians and 10 soldiers
were also killed in the conflict.

Gomez says the team of UN experts has received guarantees that the mission will
be allowed to go ahead as planned, despite contrary comments made by Israeli
officials.

On April 15, an Israeli government official said Tel Aviv was "very
unlikely" to collaborate with an internationally- urged probe into war
crimes committed during 'Operation Cast Lead,' even though the probe is headed
by a Jewish judge.

Tel Aviv claims that the fact-finding mission's goal is to tarnish the image of
the Israeli regime.

Israeli ambassador to the UN in Geneva, Aharon Leshno, has been quoted as
saying Tel Aviv does not recognize the UN mission because it is
"biased."

Human rights groups, such as Amnesty International, however, have urged Israel
to cooperate with the UN commission.

This is not the first time that Tel Aviv has refused to grant entry to United
Nations human rights inquiries. Late last year, Israel blocked an investigation
led by the UN's expert on human rights in the Palestinian territories, Richard
Falk.

Prior to that, the government had prevented Archbishop Desmond Tutu, a South
African cleric, from leading a UN probe in the city of Beit Hanoun in the Gaza
Strip.

UN demands access to secret
Israeli 'torture' jail

The United Nations anti-torture committee
has demanded access to an Israeli secret prison where torture is allegedly
being practiced.

The UN Committee Against Torture in Geneva prepared a document on Israel's
record on torture on Tuesday and called on Tel Aviv to release information on
the alleged "Facility 1391" which is situated in an
"undetermined location within Israel and which is not accessible to the
International Committee of the Red Cross or detainees' lawyers or
relatives."

"Allegations of torture, ill-treatment and poor detention conditions in
this facility have been reported to the committee," read the document.

The committee said it had received reports according to which "Palestinian
detainees are subjected by Israeli security officials to acts in
violation" of the anti-torture convention, including beatings, sleep
deprivations and sharp twisting of the head.

The committee is scheduled to publish a report on Tuesday's hearing on May 15.

According to reports, Palestinian detainees were kept in solitary confinement
in cells that ranged from 3 to 6 square meters with no windows or access to
daylight or fresh air.

Several reports from at least eight NGOs, including B'Tselem, Hamoked Center
for the Defense of the Individual, Physicians for Human Rights and Amnesty
International, have been received this year by the committee over Israeli
violations of the UN Convention Against Torture.

I already mentioned earlier that that the Palestinian Centre
fot Human Rights was a unique organization insofar it has the moral
courage to denounce abuse, and not only perpetrated by the occupier,
but also by the Palestinian leadership, both the PA in the West Bank
and Hamas in Gaza, and not only abuse from the authorities but also
from armed groups, be then political or clan-minded. It has also
regularly denounced "honour crimes" and violence against women.

 
Now the PCHR has sought international justice for one of the worst
atrocities perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinians in recent
times (and there are loads of them!!!), as they savagely bombed a whole
building to assassinate a militant, without caring a damn how many
innocent people would die (there were 14, including 9 children!). The
PCHR has found the courageous Judge Andreu, who hasn't bent to
political or professional pressure, and continues his rightful
investigation in the quest of justice. All men and women of conscience
should support  this legal action, in the absence of justice in Israel
or at the UN level.

Israel: Spanish legal system hijacked

Furious at a Spanish judge's decision Monday to continue
investigating Industry, Trade and Labor Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer,
Strategic Affairs Minister Moshe Ya'alon and five other former top
security officials for a 2002 bombing in Gaza that killed top Hamas
terrorist Salah Shehadeh and 14 others, Israeli officials said Monday
that Spain's judicial system was being hijacked to attack Israel. There
is "no doubt that filing the lawsuit in Spain by a Palestinian human
rights organization is a cynical move and another attempt to exploit
the Spanish legal system to further political actions against Israel,
said Yossi Levy, the Foreign Ministry's spokesman for the Hebrew press.
Levy said Israel was confident that the Spanish government and
judicial system would take all measures necessary to ensure that this
move would fail. Foreign Ministry sources said that the judge's decision to
continue with the war crimes investigation could be appealed, and
Israel was confident that not only would this be done, but the judge's
decision would be overturned. Rafi Shotz, Israel's envoy to Madrid, said Spain needed to
find a solution to this issue to keep it from clouding Israeli-Spanish
relations.
Defense Minister Ehud Barak said he planned to ask the Spanish
prime minister, defense minister and foreign minister to intervene and
stop the investigation. "There is no military as moral as the IDF," Barak said. "I
have no doubt that the people who were involved in the Shehadeh
assassination acted with one goal in mind - to protect Israeli
civilians with the resources that were available to the State of Israel
at the time." Spanish prosecutors last month urged Judge Fernando Andreu of
Spain's National Court to suspend the inquiry on the grounds that
Israel was still investigating the attack. But Andreu rejected the
request on Monday, saying he had found no evidence of such an
investigation in Israel. Andreu first agreed to open the case in January at the request
of Palestinian relatives of victims of the attack. Andreu said he was
acting under Spain's observance of the principle of universal
jurisdiction, which holds that grave crimes such as genocide, terrorism
or torture can be prosecuted there even if alleged to have been
committed elsewhere. Andreu said the 2002 bombing in the densely populated Gaza
City might constitute a crime against humanity. That attack, with a
one-ton bomb dropped from an Israeli F-16, targeted and killed
Shehadeh, along with 14 other people. On
Monday, the Spanish judge wrote that Israel's military had conducted an
internal investigation, but IDF and civilian prosecutors had declined
to open proceedings of their own. He said that for this reason, Spain
had jurisdiction to keep investigating. "In Israel, there [have] not been, nor [are] there now under
way, any legal proceedings aimed at investigating" the Gaza bombing,
the judge wrote. One Israeli source close to the issue said that while the High
Court of Justice had not dealt directly with the Shehadeh case, it had
dealt extensively with the issue of targeted assassinations, so that
the argument that Israel was not dealing with the issue was not
relevant.
Following the outcry in Israel that followed Andreu's initial
decision to investigate the case, Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel
Moratinos said Spain needed to modify its law to narrow the scope of
universal jurisdiction cases to those with a clear link to Spain. But no reform to this effect has yet made it to the Spanish parliament for debate or a vote.
Last week another Spanish judge, Baltasar Garzon, announced an
investigation into the alleged torture of terror suspects at the US
prison in Guantanamo Bay, even though the Spanish attorney-general had
said such a procedure was up to the United States, not Spain. The chief justice of the Spanish Supreme Court, Carlos Divar,
said Monday that an amendment to his country's universal justice law
was necessary because "we cannot become the world's judicial gendarme."
Divar is also the chairman of a watchdog body that oversees the Spanish
court system. One Israeli source said it was ironic that Spain was
investigating alleged crimes committed by government officials abroad,
while it had not yet prosecuted Spanish officials responsible for
criminal acts under the regime of Francisco Franco. In addition to Ben-Eliezer, who was defense minister in 2002,
and Ya'alon, who was then the chief of General Staff, the other
Israelis being investigated include Dan Halutz, who commanded the air
force at the time of the attack; Doron Almog, who was head of the
Southern Command; Giora Eiland, who was National Security Adviser;
Michael Herzog, who was a top Defense Ministry official; and Avi
Dichter, then director of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency). The
left-wing organization Yesh Gvul said in a statement that the High
Court of Justice was solely to blame for the Spanish judge's decision. "Yesh Gvul warned from the first week after the dropping of
the one-ton bomb that if the Israeli judicial system does not deal
courageously with this serious incident and convict the guilty parties,
there will be some court in another country that will pick up the
gauntlet and do what is necessary in its stead," the statement read.
After the incident on July 22, 2002, Yesh Gvul called on the
military advocate-general and the attorney-general to launch a criminal
investigation. When they refused, the organization petitioned the High
Court. The court ordered the state to appoint a committee to
investigate the incident, which it did, in February 2008. The
committee, headed by former IDF judge advocate-general Tzvi Inbar, has

Hamad:
Opening the Rafah crossing point is an urgent necessity

GAZA,
(PIC)-- Dr. Ghazi Hamad, the head of the crossing points' authority in Gaza
Strip said on Monday that his department can facilitate the departure of
3,000 Palestinian citizens if the Egyptian authorities cooperate in this
regard.
He
also pointed out that work at the crossing points needs a joint political
decision from all the parties that control them; but he acknowledged that his
department's control in operating the border terminal was "very
limited".
In
press statements he issued in this regard, and a copy of which was obtained
by the PIC, Hamad explained that the biggest obstacle they face was the
presence of thousands of Palestinian citizens stranded at the crossing point
waiting for their turn to cross into Egypt.
But
he underlined that his department strives hard to solve this problem through
daily contacts with the Egyptian side, highlighting that opening the Rafah
crossing points became an "urgent necessity".
"Everyone
at the Palestinian side awaits quick and tangible solution to this problem,
which is difficult to achieve", Hamad said.
He
also described the situation at the crossing point as "painful",
adding that many sick Palestinians in critical condition arrive every day to
the crossing point, but we couldn’t accommodate all of them although we
do our best in coordinating their passage with the Egyptians.
"I,
personally, have been trying to arrange the departure of four
Palestinian citizens stricken by cancer and acute renal failure, but we only
succeeded in arranging the departure of one case only for a three-year old
child complaining of liver and spleen cancer", underscored Hamad.
As
far as the commercial crossing points were concerned, Hamas explained that
the Israeli occupation authorities closed those crossings points, and open
them for few days and for limited time without allowing the basic needs
coming into the starving Strip.
He
also pointed out that most of the goods allowed by the IOA into the Strip
through the Karni and Karm Abu Salim crossing points were either belong to
the UNRWA or belong to foreign societies and private owners.
Furthermore,
the PA official asserted that the quantity of fuel supplied by the IOA to the
Gaza Strip was 40% only of the Strip's actual need, which prompted broad
sectors of the Palestinians to rely on the Egyptian gas, which is smuggled
through tunnels between Gaza and Egypt.



 

As a matter of fact Israel is having problems to draft the young. If my memory doesn't fail me I was told half girls told excuses to dodge the military, and at least 1/3 of boys... So far the military could live with it, as long as it was silent refusal, and not "political". But since army dodgers are becoming more assertive and politically critical, like the latest courageous Shministim movement,  the military are beginning to panic, hence the crackdown on New Profile, which is a dedicated feminist antimilitarist organization informing young people of their rights as far as the army is concerned...

Protesters, activists and draft evaders are
being targeted by a broad programme of state
repression

About six months after
Israel's attorney general publicly announced an
effort to criminalise dissent, state authorities have upped the ante in their
"war" â€" as the daily Ha'aretz called it last September â€" against Israel's youth and against the broad,
grassroots protest movement of young Israelis who avoid serving their compulsory
time in the military â€" slandered by officials as "draft
shirkers".
On 26 April, a day before
Israel's Memorial Day, Israeli police
produced an absurd piece of political theatre â€" as Dimi Reider first reported here last
Thursday. As if facing down
dangerous organised criminals, they raided the homes of six activists in
different parts of Israel, who were then detained for
interrogation. Exploiting the emotions roused on a day of mourning for military
dead, the police action singled out and branded anti-military activists as
outside the legitimate Israeli community.
At the time of writing, police
have summoned 10 additional activists for interrogation. The activists targeted
are members of New Profile, a feminist movement working for over a
decade to reverse the militarisation of state and society in Israel. I have
been a member since its inception. New Profile intends to uphold the right to
open discourse on the crucial issues young people face and we work to change the
militarised thinking holding us, all the residents of Israel and Palestine, hostage. Our activism may enrage
some, but our activities are totally legal.
The reality is that rising
numbers of young Jewish Israelis â€" as well as the Druze minority who are also
subject to conscription â€" find themselves unwilling to accept the Israeli
dictate "There's no other choice". Four generations and over six decades of
failed "military solutions" have engendered a broad social movement of young
people who have severe internal struggles when asked to serve in the
military.
Israeli law offers virtually no
legal provision for conscientious objectors and Israel's courts
â€" both military and civil â€" class the reason for refusing service as
"political", "psychological" and only very rarely "conscientious" . The
soul-searching brought on by deciding to serve has caused many young people real
distress. In recent years, Israeli soldiers' suicides have accounted for more
deaths than all the other
types of military casualties combined.
According to Ha'aretz, the criminal investigation of New Profile is motivated
by "growing concern at the defence establishment of a growing trend of draft
evasion". It is not New Profile that is worrying them, we are just an easy
scapegoat through which they hope to sow fear and intimidate future draft
dodgers. The state has thus declared a war against the many thousands who resist
the draft and refuse to place their bodies, their minds, and their morality at
the disposal of visionless politicians.
For years now, the army has
regularly been exempting tens of thousands from service without difficulty. In
fact, several years ago the military and the (very same) defence minister
declared a downsizing programme, towards creating "a small, smart army". Their
worry today is rather the popular vote of no-confidence in their easy use of the
lives of soldiers â€" an anger no longer limited to alienated, impoverished parts
of society but spreading deep into the middle class as
well.
The growing legitimisation
of the draft resisters in the Israeli mainstream is also evidence of the
weakening of the hold fear has on our society. Those in power, both the right
and the so-called "left", are struggling to keep in place this longstanding
means of obscuring political corruption and of feeding the notion of "national
unity" in the form of "the people's army".
Tragically, this war on New
Profile is part of a broader programme of state repression of political dissent.
Palestinian citizens of Israel were detained by the hundreds for
protesting at Israel's attack
against Gaza
last January. Many remain in detention still, without charges, trial or due
process. Activists taking part in non-violent protests against the land-gobbling
dragon of Israel's separation wall are
regularly attacked with lethal fire. Just weeks ago Bassem Ibrahim Abu Rahma
was killed by soldiers in Bil'in. Dozens of activists, both Palestinians and
Jews, are detained at demonstrations and incarcerated for varying periods. In
most cases, the repressive measures applied to Jewish activists still bear no
comparison, in terms of their arbitrariness and brutality, to the means employed
against Palestinians.
However, the political
theatre of repression being played out against New Profile is of great
importance. Every act of repression is important and should be resisted, and
when it is applied to a group of relatively privileged, middle-class, and
largely middle-aged feminists, such repression may be more visible to mainstream
Israeli society. This will more easily expose the state's fabric of lies and
ludicrous, trumped-up charges, and allow decent but uninformed people a concrete
grasp of the reality of the situation. In the balance yet again lies the future
of freedom and rights for everyone in Israel and the Palestinian territories,
because what is at stake are the lives of Israeli youth against whom the state
is waging this war. What we are struggling for is the future of a democratic,
civil society.
"Israel: New Profile under Investigation"

The
attempted criminalization of New Profile amounts to no less than a
state war on youth. Rising numbers of young Jewish Israelis (as well as
members of the Druze minority also subject to conscription) find
themselves unable or unwilling to accept the over-used Israeli dictate:
"There's no other choice." Despite the ongoing draft, more than half of
all eligible Israelis no longer serve or complete their obligatory
service in the military. Though Israeli law offers virtually no legal
provision for Conscientious Objection, young people have found their
own way to vote with their feet. Officials initiated the New Profile
investigation "because of growing concern at the defense establishment
of a growing trend of draft evasion. In July 2007 Defense Minister Ehud
Barak and Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi declared publicly that they
would fight the trend" (Ha'aretz, 4/27/2009). Clearly, it's not New
Profile that they're worried about. New Profile is an easy, visible
scapegoat through which they hope to sow fear and intimidate future
draft resisters, whom they stigmatize as "shirkers." The state has
declared a war against the many thousands who openly resist or dodge
the draft and refuse to place their bodies, their minds, their morality
at the disposal of vision-less politicians.

A Defender of Civil Rights
Mourning William Moffitt

For
over three years during my  ordeal with the US government between 2003
and 2006, I was placed in solitary confinement, having no contact
visits with anyone except my attornies, Bill Moffitt and Linda Moreno.

At the
end of my first meeting with Bill in the spring of 2003, after my
arrest, he hugged me and said: "this is how we greet each other,
brother." He was indeed not only my attorney, but also my trusted
friend and brother.

Bill
Moffitt passed away on April 24 after suffering a massive stroke. He
was indeed one of the best legal minds and defense attorneys this
country had ever produced. His sharp intellect and passion for justice
were unmatched. He was the second Black president of the National
Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and an attorney who took on
unpopular causes for decades, most recently defending Palestinian
activists wrongly accused by the Bush administration.

I first
met Bill when the National Coalition to Protect Political Freedom
(NCPPF) organized a major event at the US Capitol in February 2000. The
event was convened to draw attention to the use of secret evidence by
the Department of Justice in immigration courts. As president of the
NCPPF, I invited and introduced Bill to address the assembly in his
capacity as the president of the National Association of Criminal
Defense Lawyers. In front of an audience of over 700, including many
members of Congress, he was articulate, fierce, and passionate in his
defense of the constitutional right of due process.

Little
did I know that in three years Bill would become my voice to the world,
and along with Linda, would do everything humanly possible to defend
me, not only against the bloated indictment and vicious prosecution,
but also against a prejudicial and biased media. From the moment we
went about facing these seemingly insurmountable tasks, Bill and Linda
became family to my wife, children and me.

Bill
often referred to our case as the civil rights case of the 21st
century. In his opening statement to the jury, he blew up two pictures
the FBI took during their searches of my house. One was a picture of my
library with thousands of books on shelves. The other was a picture of
a gun I owned at the time. He then told the jurors: "this is what this
case is about. When the government raided Dr. Al-Arian's house, this is
what they took (books), and that's what they'd left (the gun). This
case is not about violence but about freedom of speech."

In his
closing argument, Bill Moffitt summed up the case to the jury by
saying: " I suggest to you that somewhere very close, the people who
wrote those words, 'we the people,' are listening and observing these
proceedings and wondering whether we have the courage to maintain what
they set out for us; whether we will remain the beacon in the world to
someone like Sami Al-Arian to come here and to speak his piece." He
then added: "So, I hope as we are looked down by those people who
created this great country, that in my attempt to defend Sami Al-Arian
and to defend those principles, along with Ms. Moreno, that they
thought we gave it a good run."

He
concluded: "I have a daughter. I hope that she will live in a country
where she can speak her mind and believe what she wants without fear.
That's what this case is about." The jury surely believed strongly in
Bill Moffitt's passionate defense of the right to speak freely, as they
did not return a single guilty verdict despite a six-month onslaught by
the government.

After Bill and Linda negotiated a plea agreement with the government in 2006 with the
expectation
of my imminent release, we made a pact to celebrate along the
Mediterranean Sea. However, more than two years later, he visited me in
my daughter's apartment in a Washington suburb, where I'm currently
under house arrest. We hugged and talked, reflected on the trial and
laughed. He was still his old self, a maverick, who deeply cared about
justice and civil rights, the constitution and empowering the voiceless.

I spoke
with Linda on the day Bill passed. With teary eyes and a choking voice,
she said, "It was my privilege to work with Bill. He was the very best
of us in the defense bar. He will be greatly missed by anyone who cares
about justice. His legacy will surely endure."

My
family and I offer our deepest condolences and prayers to Bill's wife
and daughter. They are surely proud of his rich life and many
accomplishments. He has left his mark, and the legal community has lost
a great champion of civil and constitutional rights. The country and
the world are definitely a better place today because of Bill Moffitt.
He will be missed dearly. May God rest his soul.

With Afghanistan, it always seems to be more and worse. More American
(and NATO) troops "surging" in, more Taliban control in the
countryside, more insurgent attacks, more sophisticated roadside bombs,
more deadly suicide bombings, more dead American and NATO troops, more
problems with U.S. supply lines into Afghanistan, more civilian deaths
from American and NATO military operations, more U.S. bases being
built, more billions of U.S. dollars needed for military operations --
Secretary of Defense Robert Gates recently indicated that the build-up
of U.S. forces alone in that country in the next fiscal year could cost
an extra $5.5 billion -- and, of course, yet more reports and studies
indicating that everything yet tried to "stabilize" Afghanistan has
gone desperately wrong.

And always these are followed by the insistence that more of the same
militarily, a further build-up of coalition military forces, another
five or 10 or 20 years of foreign "training" programs for Afghan forces
still "not ready for the task" -- no one asks how Taliban fighters, no
less "Afghan," prove so ready to fight without years of American
training -- is the only context for future success in "reconstructing"
that country. Ann Jones, who was a humanitarian aid worker in
Afghanistan from 2002 to 2006 and wrote a moving book about the
experience, Kabul in Winter, suggests just why this essentially
repetitive formula, which will now pass as part of the new thinking of
the Obama era, is bound to lead to more of the same. She focuses on the
"reconstruction" part of the formula and shows just why, all military
matters aside, it's such a hopeless shuck. Can this, nonetheless, be
the path the U.S. will head down in the year to come? It seems so. Tom

The Afghan Scam

The Untold Story of Why the U.S. Is Bound to Fail in Afghanistan

The first of 20,000 to 30,000 additional U.S. troops are scheduled to
arrive in Afghanistan next month to re-win the war George W. Bush
neglected to finish in his eagerness to start another one. However,
"winning" the military campaign against the Taliban is the lesser half
of the story.

Going into Afghanistan, the Bush administration called for a political
campaign to reconstruct the country and thereby establish the authority
of a stable, democratic Afghan central government. It was understood
that the two campaigns -- military and political/economic -- had to go
forward together; the success of each depended on the other. But the
vision of a reconstructed, peaceful, stable, democratically governed
Afghanistan faded fast. Most Afghans now believe that it was nothing
but a cover story for the Bush administration' s real goal -- to set up
permanent bases in Afghanistan and occupy the country forever.

Whatever the truth of the matter, in the long run, it's not soldiers
but services that count -- electricity, water, food, health care,
justice, and jobs. Had the U.S. delivered the promised services on
time, while employing Afghans to rebuild their own country according to
their own priorities and under the supervision of their own government
-- a mini-Marshall Plan -- they would now be in charge of their own
defense. The forces on the other side, which we loosely call the
Taliban, would also have lost much of their grounds for complaint.

Instead, the Bush administration perpetrated a scam. It used the system
it set up to dispense reconstruction aid to both the countries it
"liberated," Afghanistan and Iraq, to transfer American taxpayer
dollars from the national treasury directly into the pockets of private
war profiteers. Think of Halliburton, Bechtel, and Blackwater in Iraq;
Louis Berger Group, Bearing Point, and DynCorp International in
Afghanistan. They're all in it together. So far, the Bush
administration has bamboozled Americans about its shady aid program.
Nobody talks about it. Yet the aid scam, which would be a scandal if it
weren't so profitable for so many, explains far more than does troop
strength about why, today, we are on the verge of watching the whole
Afghan enterprise go belly up.

What's worse, there's no reason to expect that things will change
significantly on Barack Obama's watch. During the election campaign, he
called repeatedly for more troops for "the right war" in Afghanistan
(while pledging to draw-down U.S. forces in Iraq), but he has yet to
say a significant word about the reconstruction mission. While many aid
workers in that country remain full of good intentions, the delivery
systems for and uses of U.S. aid have been so thoroughly corrupted that
we can only expect more of the same -- unless Obama cleans house fast.
But given the monumental problems on his plate, how likely is that?

The Jolly Privateers

It's hard to overstate the magnitude of the failure of American
reconstruction in Afghanistan. While the U.S. has occupied the country
-- for seven years and counting -- and efficiently set up a network of
bases and prisons, it has yet to restore to Kabul, the capital, a mud
brick city slightly more populous than Houston, a single one of the
public services its citizens used to enjoy. When the Soviets occupied
Afghanistan in the 1980s, they modernized the education system and
built power plants, dams, factories, and apartment blocs, still the
most coveted in the country. If, in the last seven years, George W.
Bush did not get the lights back on in the capital, or the water
flowing, or dispose of the sewage or trash, how can we assume Barack
Obama will do any better with the corrupt system he's about to inherit?

Between 2002 and 2008, the U.S. pledged $10.4 billion dollars in
"development" (reconstruction) aid to Afghanistan, but actually
delivered only $5 billion of that amount. Considering that the U.S. is
spending $36 billion a year on the war in Afghanistan and about $8
billion a month on the war in Iraq, that $5 billion in development aid
looks paltry indeed. But keep in mind that, in a country as poor as
Afghanistan, a little well spent money can make a big difference.

The problem is not simply that the Bush administration skimped on aid,
but that it handed it over to for-profit contractors. Privatization, as
is now abundantly clear, enriches only the privateers and serves only
their private interests.

Take one pertinent example. When the inspectors general of the Pentagon
and State Department investigated the U.S. program to train the Afghan
police in 2006, they found the number of men trained (about 30,000) to
be less than half the number reported by the administration (70,000).
The training had lasted eight weeks at most, with no in-the-field
experience whatsoever. Only about half the equipment assigned to the
police -- including thousands of trucks -- could be accounted for, and
the men trained were then deemed "incapable of carrying out routine law
enforcement work."

The American privateer training the police -- DynCorp -- went on to win
no-bid contracts to train police in Iraq with similar results. The
total bill for American taxpayers from 2004 to 2006: $1.6 billion. It's
unclear whether that money came from the military or the development
budget, but in either case it was wasted. The inspectors general
reported that police incompetence contributed directly to increased
opium production, the reinvigoration of the Taliban, and government
corruption in general, thoroughly subverting much ballyhooed U.S.
goals, both military and political.

In the does-no-one- ever-learn category: the latest American victory
plan, announced in December, calls for recruiting and rearming local
militias to combat the Taliban. Keep in mind that hundreds of millions
of dollars, mostly donated by Japan, have already been spent to disarm
local militias. A proposal to rearm them was soundly defeated last fall
in the Afghan Parliament. Now, it's again the plan du jour,
rubber-stamped by Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

Afghans protest that such a plan amounts to sponsoring civil war,
which, if true, would mean that American involvement in Afghanistan
might be coming full circle -- civil war being the state in which the
U.S. left Afghanistan at the end of our proxy war against the Soviet
Union in the 1980s. American commanders, however, insist that they must
use militias because Afghan Army and police forces are "simply not
available." Maj. Gen. Michael S. Tucker, deputy commander of American
forces, told the New York Times, "We don't have enough police, [and] we
don't have time to get the police ready." This, despite the State
Department's award to DynCorp last August of another $317.4 million
contract "to continue training civilian police forces in Afghanistan, "
a contract DynCorp CEO William Ballhaus greeted as "an opportunity to
contribute to peace, stability and democracy in the world [and] support
our government's efforts to improve people's lives."

America First

In other areas less obviously connected to security, American aid
policy is no less self-serving or self-defeating. Although the Bush
administration handpicked the Afghan president and claims to want to
extend his authority throughout the country, it refuses to channel aid
money through his government's ministries. (It argues that the Afghan
government is corrupt, which it is, in a pathetic, minor league sort of
way.)

Instead of giving aid money for Afghan schools to the Ministry of
Education, for example, the U.S. Agency for International Development
(USAID) funds private American contractors to start literacy programs
for adults. As a result, Afghan teachers abandon the public schools and
education administrators leave the Ministry for higher paying jobs with
those contractors, further undermining public education and governance.
The Bush administration may have no particular reason to sabotage its
handpicked government, but it has had every reason to befriend private
contractors who have, in turn, kicked back generously to election
campaigns and Republican coffers.

There are other peculiar features of American development aid. Nearly
half of it (47%) goes to support "technical assistance." Translated,
that means overpaid American "experts," often totally unqualified --
somebody's good old college buddies -- are paid handsomely to advise
the locals on matters ranging from office procedures to pesticide use,
even when the Afghans neither request nor welcome such advice. By
contrast, the universally admired aid programs of Sweden and Ireland
allocate only 4% and 2% respectively to such technical assistance, and
when asked, they send real experts. American technical advisors, like
American privateers, are paid by checks -- big ones -- that pass
directly from the federal treasury to private accounts in American
banks, thus helping to insure that about 86 cents of every dollar
designated for U.S. "foreign" aid anywhere in the world never leaves
the U.S.A.

American aid that actually makes it abroad arrives with strings
attached. At least 70% of it is "tied" to the purchase of American
products. A food aid program, for example, might require Afghanistan to
purchase American agricultural products in preference to their own,
thus putting Afghan farmers out of business or driving even more of
them into the poppy trade. (The percentage of aid from Sweden, Ireland,
and the United Kingdom that is similarly tied: zero.)

Testifying before a congressional subcommittee on May 8, 2001, Andrew
Natsios, then head of USAID, described American aid as "a key foreign
policy instrument [that] helps nations prepare for participation in the
global trading system and become better markets for U.S. exports." Such
so-called aid cuts American business in right from the start. USAID has
even developed a system for "preselecting" certain private contractors,
then inviting only those preselected companies to apply for contracts
the agency wants to issue.

Often, in fact, only one of the preselected contractors puts in for the
job and then -- if you need a hint as to what's really going on -- just
happens to award subcontracts to some of the others. It's remarkable,
too, how many former USAID officials have passed through the famed
revolving door in Washington to become highly paid consultants to
private contractors -- and vice versa. By January 2006, the Bush
administration had co-opted USAID altogether. The once independent aid
agency launched by President Kennedy in 1961 became a subsidiary of the
State Department and a partner of the Pentagon.

Oh, and keep in mind one more thing: While the private contractors may
be in it for the duration, most employees and technical experts in
Afghanistan stay on the job only six months to a year because it's
considered such a "hardship post." As a result, projects tend not to
last long and to be remarkably unrelated to those that came before or
will come after. Contractors collect the big bucks whether or not the
aid they contracted to deliver benefits Afghans, or even reaches them.

These arrangements help explain why Afghanistan remains such a shambles.

The Afghan Scam

It's not that American aid has done nothing. Check out the USAID
website and you'll find a summary of what is claimed for it (under the
glorious heading of "Afghanistan Reborn"). It will inform you that
USAID has completed literally thousands of projects in that country.
The USAID loves numbers, but don't be deceived by them. A thousand
short-term USAID projects can't hold a candle to one long, careful,
patient program run, year after year, by a bunch of Afghans led by a
single Swede.

If there has been any progress in Afghanistan, especially in and around
Kabul, it's largely been because two-thirds of the reconstruction aid
to Afghanistan comes from other (mostly European) countries that do a
better job, and partly because the country's druglords spend big on
palatial homes and services in the capital. But the one-third of
international aid that is supposed to come from the U.S., and that
might make a critical difference when added to the work of others,
eternally falls into the wrong pockets.

What would Afghans have done differently, if they'd been in charge?
They'd have built much smaller schools, and a lot more of them, in
places more convenient to children than to foreign construction crews.
Afghans would have hired Afghans to do the building. Louis Berger Group
had the contract to build more than 1,000 schools at a cost of $274,000
per school. Already way behind schedule in 2005, they had finished only
a small fraction of them when roofs began to collapse under the snows
of winter.

Believe me, given that same $274,000, Afghans would have built 15 or 20
schools with good roofs. The same math can be applied to medical
clinics. Afghans would also have chosen to repair irrigation systems
and wells, to restore ruined orchards, vineyards, and fields. Amazingly
enough, USAID initially had no agricultural programs in a country where
rural subsistence farmers are 85% of the population. Now, after seven
years, the agency finally claims to have "improved" irrigation on
"nearly 15%" of arable land. And you can be sure that Afghans wouldn't
have chosen -- again -- the Louis Berger Group to rebuild the 389-mile
long Kabul/Kandahar highway with foreign labor at a cost of $1 million
per mile.

As things now stand, Afghans, as well as Afghan-Americans who go back
to help their homeland, have to play by American rules. Recently an
Afghan-American contractor who competed for reconstruction contracts
told me that the American military is getting in on the aid scam. To
apply for a contract, Afghan applicants now have to fill out a form (in
English!) that may run to 50 pages. My informant, who asked to remain
anonymous for obvious reasons, commented that it's next to impossible
to figure out "what they look for." He won a contract only when he took
a hint and hired an American "expert" -- a retired military officer --
to fill out the form. The expert claimed the "standard fee" for his
service: 25% of the value of the contract.

Another Afghan-American informed me that he was proud to have worked
with an American construction company building schools with USAID
funds. Taken on as a translator, he persuaded the company not only to
hire Afghan laborers, but also to raise their pay gradually from $1.00
per day to $10.00 per day. "They could feed their families," he said,
"and it was all cost over-run, so cost didn't matter. The boss was
already billing the government $10.00 to $15.00 an hour for labor, so
he could afford to pay $10.00 a day and still make a profit." My
informant didn't question the corruption in such over-billing. After
all, Afghans often tack on something extra for themselves, and they
don't call it corruption either. But on this scale it adds up to
millions going into the assumedly deep pockets of one American
privateer.

Yet a third Afghan-American, a businessman who has worked on American
projects in his homeland, insisted that when Bush pledged $10.4 billion
in aid, President Karzai should have offered him a deal: "Give me $2
billion in cash, I'll kick back the rest to you, and you can take your
army and go home."

"If Karzai had put the cash in an Afghan bank," the businessman added,
"and spent it himself on what people really need, both Afghanistan and
Karzai would be in much better shape today." Yes, he was half-joking,
but he wasn't wrong.

Don't think of such stories, and thousands of others like them, as
merely tales of the everyday theft or waste of a few hundred million
dollars -- a form of well-organized, routine graft that leaves the
corruption of Karzai's government in the shade and will undoubtedly
continue unremarked upon in the Obama years. Those multi-millions that
will continue to be poured down the Afghan drain really represent
promises made to a people whose country and culture we have devastated
more than once. They are promises made by our government, paid for by
our taxpayers, and repeatedly broken.

These stories, which you'll seldom hear about, are every bit as
important as the debates about military strength and tactics and
strategy in Afghanistan that dominate public discourse today. Those
promises, made in our name, were once said to be why we fight; now --
broken -- they remind us that we've already lost.

prepare for U.S. surge

Militants in
Afghanistan say plans for Obama's new troops include more IED, suicide bombers
and assassinations

KANDAHAR, AFGHANISTAN
â€" Taliban fighters say they are planning a bloody summer campaign of
buried bombs and staged ambushes in rural areas and a rash of multiple
co-ordinated suicide bombings and assassinations in urban Kandahar.

Designed to spread
terror across the most densely populated areas of this province, the militants'
ramped-up battle plan is a response to the impending surge of U.S. troops and
retrenching of other forces here.

After two weeks of
interviews with Taliban, close observers and Afghan government officials from
some of the province's most troubled districts, a picture emerges of what to
expect from what may be the most intense fighting season in years â€" and
places nervous civilians squarely in the crosshairs.

“We have new
plans, new tactics,� a Taliban logistics director based in the volatile
Panjwai district says. He recently returned from high-level meetings with
militant commanders in Quetta, Pakistan, and spoke about plans on condition his
name remains unpublished.

 “The new
strategy of fighting is very important for us,� he said. “It will
be very dangerous for the government and for foreign troops.�

Central to the summer
strategy is a two-pronged terror campaign currently being mapped out by Taliban
planners in a mountain refuge in northern Maywand district. The area links
Afghanistan' s Helmand and Kandahar provinces and is poised to become a focal
point of the war when U.S. troops deploy there.

Their plan will be
carried out by young fighters who, in recent weeks, have been trickling into
the notorious rural areas west of Kandahar city, armed with new machine guns
and sustained by villagers' donations of dry bread and watery yogurt.

When their commanders
give the green light, these young militants, mainly between 18 and 30 years
old, will instigate clashes on two fronts: the first will be across rural areas
west of the city â€" the traditional summer battlefields for militants
clashing with coalition troops. The second will be in urban Kandahar city, home
to key provincial government offices and a hub for Canadian troops.

Out-powered in rural
areas by military weaponry, fighters there will carry machine guns and attempt
to sharpen the results of their ambushes, but they will rely more on land mines
and improvised explosive devices, sources say.

Inside the city,
insurgents plan to stage more frequent multi-bomber suicide attacks and
targeted assassinations. Government officials and civilians who appear to be in
favour of the current government regime will be hunted with new intensity.

“If a man or
woman is working with the government, or they are supporters of the government
or of the foreigners, we want to kill them,� said one Taliban organizer
speaking through a Pashto translator. “We want to put the pressure on
Kandahar city. And we want to dissolve the government.�

The militants'
renewed focus on disrupting peace in Kandahar city comes at a time when
Canadian troops are also setting their sights on the city. Under the command of
Brigadier-General Jonathan Vance, Canada has for weeks been preparing to draw
back from some of the remote outposts soldiers have been spread across â€"
making room for the U.S. troop surge â€" and focus instead on securing
urban Kandahar and the area immediately outside of it where the majority of the
province's population resides.

This regrouping,
which will take shape as U.S. troops make their way into the theatre over the
course of the coming months, represents a transformation in Canada's approach
aimed to allow troops to make headway on the nation building projects that
ongoing security problems have stymied over the course of Canada's involvement
in southern Afghanistan.

How locals respond to
troops remains to be seen. In the city, confidence in both government and
coalition forces has waned, and military officials acknowledge research
confirms the forces' sunken popularity.

Their approval
ratings have not been helped by a spike in large-scale violence over the course
of the past month. Militants successfully carried out deadly bombings at the
governor's mansion and the provincial council offices. Assassinations have
become a daily occurrence, so much so that victims of the gruesome killings
only make the news now if they are well-known figures.

In rural pockets, confidence
in government and foreign military has also dropped. In some districts with a
sparse military presence, landowners who were anti-Taliban last year say
they've grown weary of ineffective government, corruption and poor security.

In Zhari and Panjwai
districts, where military forces engage Taliban fighters regularly, villagers
are fed up with the dangerous bombings that occur when ground troops call in
air support. Residents worry the incidents, which occasionally claim civilian
lives, will only increase as the U.S. troop presence builds.

All of that has made
many long-time landowners wonder whether, if the Taliban cannot be beat, it's
safer to simply join their cause.

“Last year,
people were trying to convince the Taliban not to fight. Now people feel it is
their obligation … to start fighting,� said one middle-aged farmer
from Maywand district, where militants say they maintain two fortified, armed
positions. “People see the government as weak. They're not defending the
common people. The government can't bring security,� he said.

Mullah Masood,
Maywand's district leader, said allegiances to militants will not change until
foreign stakeholders invest properly in Afghanistan.

“My suggestion
is for the foreigner to find work for the common people, the people who are
poor,� he said. “Find food for the children. Otherwise, this
joining of the people with the Taliban will continue.�

India’s Obama Inspires Muslims

NEW DELHIâ€" Just as the election of Barack Obama for
African Americans, the rise of Mayawati, India’s star woman politician,
from the lowest rung of the social hierarchy is bringing hope of change for
Indian Muslims.
"This
Maya is no illusion," M.J. Akbar, a veteran journalist and former
lawmaker, told IslamOnline. net, referring to the nickname Mayawati is known
with among Indians.
"Maya
is heaving against prejudice that has congealed over many thousands of
years."
Mayawati,
chief minister of India’s most populous state Uttar Pradesh and leader
of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), is a daughter of "Dalits," the
lowest rung of the Hindu social caste system commonly known as the
"untouchables. "
But
the woman, whose party is now a front runner in at least 10 states across
India, is an inspiration for Muslims as well as millions of India's
lower-caste people.
Akbar
compares Mayawati to Obama citing her once unlikely rise from the margins and
her extraordinary political skills.
"The
Dalits are the blacks of India…and Mayawati is their Obama."
Mayawati
became a national figure in 2007 after her party won a landslide victory in
Uttar Pradesh state election.
"She
has proved herself to be a leader of the people who she has chosen to
represent," says Zohra Javed, a political activist.
The
Dalits, meaning broken people, have long endured the prejudice and
discrimination of India's caste system which separates people into Brahmin
priests, warriors, farmers, laborers, and those beyond definition including,
the Dalits.
Though
caste discrimination is outlawed, many of the 180 million Dalits, who make up
one-sixth of India's 1.1 billion population, insist bias against them
persists.

Javed believes that a premier Mayawati is easier said than
done.



  Shafeeque Ansari, a Muslim businessman, believes
Mayawati represents millions from the lower and marginalized sections of
India from all religions and castes.
"The
rise of a regional leader like Mayawati symbolizes the empowerment of
India’s marginalized lot."
For
many Muslims, Mayawati brings hopes for more inclusive politics to engage
their own long-marginalized community.
In
the 2007 state elections, she fielded more Muslim candidates than ever
before.
"In
the Uttar Pradesh elections, Maya fielded 403 BSP candidates. Of these 61
were Muslims," Seema Mustafa, editor of India’s only political
fortnightly magazine Covert, told IOL.
"Thirty
Muslims won."
In
the ongoing, month-long parliamentary elections, Mayawati’s BSP is
fielding more Muslim candidates than any other party, including the ruling
Congress and the Hindu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Mayawati's
unique character, being a woman who knows about the plight of discrimination,
and her vows to end religious divide in Hindu-majority India is also
appealing to many others.
"She
has been able to add a slice of the minority vote bank to her kitty
too," notes Javed.
"Being
a Muslim I would certainly want someone who would look sympathetically into
the problems my community is facing."
Indian
Muslims, who account for more than for 13 percent of the total population,
have long complained of being discriminated against in all walks of life.
Christians
make up less than three percent and minorities such as Sikhs, Buddhists,
Jains and Parsis account for nearly four percent.
Premiership
Mayawati's
spectacular rise left many predicting that she might do like Obama by rising
to the top post in the country after the general polls.
"A
woman and a Dalit, somebody from a doubly disadvantaged group, becoming our
Prime Minister would definitely be a sign that India has matured as a
democracy," Sharifa Siddiqui, a Muslim civil rights activist, told IOL.
"It
means we have cocked a snook at the US in terms of choosing a leader from
groups other than the traditionally elitist groups."
Mayawati’s
party is part of the newly-formed Third Front, a coalition of 10 regional
parties, which has 84 out of the 543 seats in parliament.
Third
Front is taken seriously by many, especially those hoping for a non-Congress,
non-BJP prime minister.
"The
old cartelization of Indian politics, monopolized by high-caste leadership,
is giving way to a new set of players from the lower strata of Indian
polity," argues Ghulam Muhammed, a political analyst.
But
many doubt that the Barack Obama scenario can be repeated in caste-based
India.
Javed,
the political activist, believes that a premier Mayawati is easier said than
done.
Though
he is a strong supporter of the BSP leader, Ansari, the businessman, also
shrugs off the possibility of premier Mayawati as unrealistic.
"To
suggest her as a prime minister is akin to daydreaming. "
But
Akbar, the veteran journalist and former MP, says nothing is impossible in
politics.
"All
options are possible. The turbulence and direction of change can never be
certain."

Venezuela Students Demand Probe into Death of Pro-Chávez Colleague

CARACAS
-- A group of students loyal to President Hugo Chávez on Monday filed a
formal petition at the Attorney General's Office seeking a full
investigation into the death last week of one of their number,
allegedly at the hands of the state police, during disturbances in
Mérida, the capital of the western state of the same name.

Yuban Ortega Urdaneta died in hospital from gunshot wounds received
during disturbances at a college campus last week. He was a student at
the Technological University in Ejido in Mérida state.

The
students from the youth wing of the president's ruling United Socialist
Party of Venezuela (PSUV) drew attention to ongoing investigations into
the conduct of nine police officers during the disturbances.

Speaking outside the Attorney General's Office, a spokesman claimed
that the officers were being investigated on suspicion of attempted
murder -- which by implication, with the death of Ortega Urdaneta,
could become actual homicide -- complicity and unlawful use of firearms.

Mérida State Governor Marcos Díaz Orellana, a supporter of the
president, claimed Sunday that the situation there was calm and there
were no "focuses of disturbance. " At least in theory, the Mérida state
police force comes under the political control of the state government.

A group of students protested outside the state judicial center in
Mérida on Sunday, but no further incidents were reported. Díaz Orellana
said that investigations of what happened during disorder last week
were expected to "determine responsibilities" within the next few days.

Classes at the Universidad de Los Andes campus in Mérida were
suspended last week until May 6 in the wake of the violence, in which
several students were said to have been injured, among them Ortega
Urdaneta. Police say at least two officers were also injured, and
unconfirmed reports spoke of unidentified gunmen shooting at the police
at the height of the disorder.

Díaz Orellana claimed that "many people" infiltrate students groups
during such incidents with the intention of "disturbing the
tranquility. "

The U.S. and Cuba

Cuban President Raul Castro made it clear April 29 that while Havana
was willing to discuss everything, everything, everything� with
Washington, such talk must be “on an equal footing.�
Addressing the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement in
Havana, the Cuban leader also declared that “we are not willing to
negotiate our sovereignty or our political and social system, our right
to self-determination or our domestic affairs.�

President Barack Obama declared before and after he assumed office
that his administration would not end Washington’s five decade economic
sanctions against Havana and other efforts to bring about regime-change
until the Cuban government transformed its political and social system
to the liking of the White House and Congress.

U.S. policy in this regard essentially remains as it has been for 50
years since the Cuban Revolution led by Fidel Castro liberated the
nation from a domestic dictatorship supported by Washington and six
decades of Yankee hegemony and occasional invasions. Despite recent
indications of a softer policy toward Cuba by the new U.S. government,
Washington still does not intend to tolerate a communist government in
the Western Hemisphere.

This does not mean there can be no progress in talks between the
United States and Cuba. Each side has simply reiterated its known
positions. Cuba, however, has a strong hand this time, and may be able
to make a few gains. Virtually every country in Latin America and the
Caribbean has demanded an end to the economic blockade and to continual
U.S. efforts to isolate and destroy the Cuban government. This is not
exactly new, but the circumstances are different.

The U.S. has enjoyed hegemony throughout Latin America for over 100
years, dominating most of the economies and governments. One of the
longstanding jokes in the region goes as follows: Q. “Why has the
United States never experienced a military coup?� A. “Because it
doesn’t have an American embassy in its country.� But in the last
decade the political situation has changed substantially. Many Latin
American governments have moved toward the left, some more than others,
and have distanced themselves in various degrees from Washington’s
policies. The increasing failure of the neoliberal economic model that
the U.S. imposed on many countries in the region is a major factor as
well.

The Obama Administration has no intention of “losing� Latin America
and the Caribbean. Washington recognizes it can no longer rule this
roost as it has done before, but it certainly plans to retain its
“leadershipâ€� and dominant political and economic influence â€" using
honey, where required, instead of a

hammer, at least for the time being. But hegemony in the Western
Hemisphere remains the name of Washington’s foreign policy game,
particularly as U.S. power is diminishing in the rest of the world.
In the process the White House may come to realize that it’s best to
lay off the overt rough stuff with Cuba if it wants the rest of Latin
America to believe that the obnoxious George W. Bush has been replaced
by President Nice New Guy.

At the same time Washington is well aware there’s more than one way
to subvert a poor island country much smaller in size and power: make
peace and take the fortress from within with money, promises and
seeming good will â€" as though the Cuban government is not prepared for
Uncle Sam to do precisely this if it decides upon a “soft� takeover.
Cuba has not survived the enmity of 10 U.S. governments, and the
collapse of the socialist world, in order to naively walk into a trap.
These people will go back to the Sierra Maestra Mountains, if
necessary, to save their socialist system.

Washington always tries to depict Cuba as isolated and shunned, but
it has the support of many countries. Cuba has had excellent relations
with the Non-Aligned Movement, now composed of nearly 120 developing
countries, for over 40 years, and is presently NAM’s chair. Over the
years Havana has

played a leading role in clarifying the NAM’s economic and political
needs in a world now controlled by the rich capitalist states since the
implosion of the USSR.
President Castro told the Non-Aligned meeting that “We are currently
afflicted by deep economic, social, food, energy and environmental
crises that have become global. The international debates are
multiplied but they do not engage every country,� most particularly, of
course, the developing

non-aligned nations.
“It is impossible,� the Cuban leader continued, “to sustain the
unfair and irrational consumption patterns that served as the basis to
the current international order imposed by a few that we have been
forced to respect. A global order inspired in hegemonic pretenses and
the selfishness of privileged minorities is neither legitimate nor
ethically acceptable. A system that destroys the environment and
promotes unequal access to riches cannot last. Underdevelopment is an
unavoidable result of the current world order.

“Neoliberalism has failed as an economic policy. Today, any
objective analysis raises serious questions about the myth of the
goodness of the market and its deregulation; the alleged benefits of
privatizations and the reduction of the states’ economic and
redistribution capacity; and the

credibility of the financial institutions.�
At this point Castro noted that in the year 2008 “the number of
people starving in the world mounted from 854 million to 963 million.�
He didn’t have to mention what part of the globe these starving human
beings live in. The delegates to the conference knew only too well.

He continued: “The UN has estimated that $80 billion a year for a
decade would be enough to eradicate poverty, hunger and the lack of
health and education services and houses all over the world. That
figure is three times lower than what the [poorer, developing] South
countries spend every year to pay their foreign debt [to the rich
countries].

“The international system of economic relations requires fundamental
changes. This was demanded almost 35 years ago by the member countries
of our MovementÅ . The solution to the global economic crisis demands a
coordinated action with the universal, democratic and equitable
participation of all countries. The response cannot be a solution
negotiated by the leaders of the most powerful nations without the
participation of the United Nations.

“The G-20 solution calling for the strengthening of the role and
functions of the International Monetary Fund, whose nefarious policies
had a decisive effect on the emergence, aggravation and magnitude of
the current crisis cannot solve inequality, injustice or the
unsustainability of the present

system.�
“The practice of multilateralism requires absolute respect for the
sovereignty and territorial integrity of the states and for the
self-determination of the peoples. It also demands to dispense with
threats and the use of force in international relations, and to do
without hegemonic aspirations and imperial behavior. It requires to put
an end to foreign occupation and to deny impunity to such criminal
aggressions as those of Israel against the Palestinian people.�

Raul Castro’s comments were a continuation of the enlightened
perspective Cuba has been putting forward on these important matters
internationally for decades. They are not remarks that resonate in
Washington or in many developed, industrialized capitals, but they hit
home with the poorer

countries that have experienced hunger, humiliation and hostility from the rich countries.
By the year 2050, when today’s 6.8 billion people enlarge at minimum
to 9 billion, the increase in world poverty â€" compounded by inadequate
attention from the rich countries and the probability that global
warming will create much more hardship â€" will extend to a larger
majority of the world population, causing a crisis of historic
proportions.

Cuba has been fighting to turn this situation around for a long
time. What has the United States done about it except to make the
problem worse and demonize Cuba? On May Day, the day after President
Castro’s speech â€" undoubtedly by coincidence, but symbolically
significant â€" news agencies reported that the Obama Administration has
“retained communist Cuba on a list of countries that support
terrorism.� The State Department is well aware there’s not a bit of
truth to the change.

That same afternoon of International Workers Day, Raul Castro and up
to a half-million fellow citizens massed in Havana’s Revolution Square
to honor the working people of the world and to emphasize once again
that they have the right to determine their own future, and they will
exercise that right

rather bravely under Uncle Sam’s disapproving nose.

In her article headed “Making sense of Chavez� (April 27), Debbie Jacob wrote that it was easy to dismiss Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez as a “raving lunatic.� She also said “don’t ever count on Chavez giving up,� and continued by painting a picture that Chavez will do anything to stay in power.
These comments are a gross misrepresentation of the facts and the present reality in Venezuela. Before Chavez there was no real democracy in Venezuela. In 1989, thousands of Venezuelans were murdered in the streets when Carlos Andrés Pérez was president. Up to 70 per cent of the people lived in poverty. Contrast that with the latest government statistics which show that poverty has been reduced to roughly 25 per cent.
The oil wealth has been used to take the masses out of poverty. After Cuba, Venezuela now has the second highest rate of university enrolment in Latin America. Where elections are concerned, Chavez has defeated the opposition in almost every contest since 1998, losing only one, the referendum for constitutional reform in 2007. As for technology, under Chavez Venezuela can boast of being one of the growing super powers in technology in the Western Hemisphere. In January, Venezuela sent its first satellite into space.
It now has a space centre similar to Nasa with trained space scientists.
It has joined the exclusive space club.Venezuela, with the help of Iran, now produces its own tractors, the Veniran. It has already started to export these tractors throughout Latin America. Also with Iran’s help, Venezuela is now producing its own car, called the Centauro. The first batch rolled off the production line in 2007. In a few weeks Venezuela will be selling its first cellular phone, the Vergatario.. China has helped Venezuela in setting up the factory which will be producing up to a million phones a year.
Chavez said next year he will begin exporting these phones throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. These are but a few of the achievements under President Chavez. Venezuela is now at the forefront of cutting-edge technology and advancement. Chavez is a humble man born into poverty in the Venezuelan countryside. At the same time he is a visionary who has brought Venezuela from a backward era into the space age. All of this has been done within the bounds of democratic elections.
In a referendum last month, Venezuelans voted for him to run for elections as many times as he wishes. Chavez says the revolution is based on the ideas of the 19th century liberator Simon Bolivar. When Chavez dies the Venezuelan people will continue the revolution based upon the ideas of Bolivar. The Bolivarian people will never give up the ideas of their liberator. Ms. Jacob, these are facts that cannot be denied.

The Department of Justice has dropped its case against 1st Lt. Ehren
Watada, a war resister who refused Iraq deployment in June 2006 and
denounced President George W. Bush's decision to invade as illegal and
immoral.

In Feb. 2007, military judge Lieutenant Colonel John Head halted Watada's
case following possible inconsistencies concerning a "stipulation of fact"
agreed before the hearing. The decision led to a mistrial, ending Watada's
court martial. The Army appealed, but a judge said Watada could not be tried
again on the same charges, as it would violate his right to be free of
double jeopardy.

The Justice Department is dropping its appeal of that judge's decision.

"Because there are no longer any criminal charges pending against Lt.
Watada, and because (his) military service has been extended far beyond his
normal release date, he anticipates that he will soon be released from
active duty," Watada's attorney, James Lobsenz, said in a media advisory
published Wednesday. "He plans to return to civilian life and to attend law
school."

"Settle set aside two specifications of the same charge — conduct unbecoming
an officer — which stemmed from public statements Watada made against the

"Settle left the door open for the United States to pursue those charges
later. Fort Lewis spokesman Joseph Piek said he did not know if the

One of the charges was filed for statements Watada made during the 2006
convention of Veterans for Peace, held in Seattle.

"I could never conceive of our leader betraying the trust we had in him. As
I read about the level of deception the Bush administration used to initiate
and process this war, I was shocked. I became ashamed of wearing the
uniform. If the president can betray my trust, it's time for me to evaluate
what he's telling me to do," Watada said, according to the court martial
charge sheet.

"In the 2004 fiscal year, the Army court-martialed 176 deserters, just 7
percent of the total who fled for civilian life. Courts-martial, or military
trials, must be held for prison sentences to be handed out," reported Nina

"'The Army doesn't have enough jail cells to accommodate all the people who
go AWOL,' says James M. Branum, an Oklahoma lawyer nationally known for his
work with deserters. Nearly 7,000 soldiers deserted in fiscal year 2007,
according to figures from each branch of the military. (The military counts
soldiers as deserters once they've been AWOL for more than 30 days.)

"While some branches, most notably the Navy, have seen the number of
deserters drop since the beginning of the Iraq War, the total number has
risen, largely in the Army, where roughly 4,700 people deserted in the last
fiscal year—an 80 percent jump since the beginning of the war—amounting to
just under one percent of the Army's total manpower."

Watada was the first high-profile resister of the Iraq war.
